• Ok....the tricky part: First, there are NO roads to Bahia Solano, so driving, busing, or hitching is not possible...unless you hitch on a boat or plane! Soo...the easiest way is a flight from Medellin. Flights leave every morning from Olaya Herrera Airport in the Poblado neighborhood of Medellin, where Parque LLeras and most of the hostels and bars are. The flight is about 40 minutes, and goes to Bahia Solano. There are also flights from Quibdo. Cargo boat is another option, leaving at least 2 times per week from Buenaventura's port, a 3 hours bus ride from Cali. The boat trip takes anywhere from 20-35 hours, depending on which boat, and sea conditions...the price includes a bunk bed, and 3 meals per day. The other sea option is a boat from Panama...this is a speed boat, and takes 3 hours from the border town of Jaque, a 30 minute plane ride from Panama City, or a 15 hour boat ride.
• from the airport of Bahia Solano, take a car, bus, jeep o chiva to El Valle, where the Humpback Turtle is located! Just tell the driver you are going 'Donde Taylor.' This is the only coastal road in Choco, so no worries in getting lost. When the road hits the river mouth in El Valle, turn right and roughly 1km to Almejal Beach. Walk down Almejal Beach roughly 1km, and you will see The Humpback Turtle on your right, directly on the beach next to a beautiful waterfall. Public Transport can take you all the way to the Humpback at low tide! If the tide is high one must walk the last 1km!
