5 One of a kind. Will be missed!
I was reminiscing about my trip to Spain seven years ago. Staying a week at this hostel remains one of the best memories of my life. Sure, it was a dirty s***hole, but the people, location, and price were amazing. Partying with free entrance at the neighbouring beach clubs until 5, then smoking hash and watching the sun rise. The indoor bonfire, the sangria -- I'm sorry it's gone!

5 I also worked there as a volunteer in 2000, and it was an amazing time. I loved it. The only poor, sad and bad thing about the hostel was crazy XAN, the "owner," who did everything against our joy to stay or work there. Eventually he closed the hostel in December 2000 and all the visitors had to sleep on the beach on cold December nights. We volunteers lost our job and I had to return back home. Poor Xan. In case you read this, you are still on my mind and I remember you as a bad example of how people shouldn't be!!

5 Wow, a moment of silence for the greatest hostel ever. I was there in 2002 during the World Cup and then again in 2003 for six weeks. It's definitely one of the best memories of all my travels around the world. FYI Super Cato R.I.P. I hope the crew is doing well and maybe we will run into you some other time some other place. Long live the shag tent.

5 Hi everyone. :) I used to work at this place back in the day and it was just an exceptional experience!!! I will never forget it. One, because of the baddest parties in my life, and two, the girls. :) Uff! It was all fabulous. :))) The fact that it is closed now makes me even more happy that I had a chance to hang there. Anyway, anyone from 2000 crew give me a holla: andreharlem@yahoo.com

5 I was working there for some time in 2000 and I say it's the best hostel I've ever seen. Is it really closed now?

5 An excellent setting for a magical place. This place closing will be a great loss for travellers in Europe. I was there for Tomatina 2003, and what a time it was! I met a whole bunch of great people and had the best time ever. Boat race night, drinking and swimming at the beach, and playing guitar in the lounge will be some of the best memories I'll ever have.

5 This was undoubtedly THE BEST hostel I have ever stayed at. I was lucky enough to be there in 2003 for the tomatina, and it was the most fun I had that whole summer! All the people I met there were amazing. This hostel's location was superb, and I had a great time on the beach, swimming out in the sea at 3 a.m. I am really gutted it has closed, as there will never be a hostel anywhere like it, also with as great an atmosphere.

5 If the council closes this place... I'll never go back to Valencia.

5 We worked here for 6 weeks in May/June 2002 as volunteers and it was the best thing we ever did.

5 This place had so much vibe. The 2003 crew, who were hanging out at the time of La Tomatina, had the most amazing time. It's right on the beach. Drinking and debauchery every night--such an amazing place to pass lazy summer days in Spain. I am so sad that it must now (July 2004 permanent closure) become a myth.

1 I was in Valencia few days ago (June 29, 2004) and I wanted to stay in this hostel. Unfortunately, no one could help me find it. I found Calle Eugenia Vines, number 26, and it was the end of that street. After one hour of searching, I was told by some people that this hostel doesn't exist anymore ("Hostal kaput.")

5 It was great, thanks to everybody who stayed with us and helped us to have a great time.

5 This was the best hostel I stayed at all around Europe. We had the best time at La Tomatina 2003 and ended up staying longer because it was cheap and had an awesome atmosphere. We met heaps of great people and the sangria was the best. It is such a great place, there was even a song written about it! "Las arenas..."

5 Don't be put off by the awful surroundings and the hostel itself, I had a great time there. It was really fun. Stop being a coward and just put up with the conditions. You get used to it!!!
