Location, Location, Location! If you are looking for a hostel with clean dorms, average breakfast and in a great location then this is the hostel for you. Me and my friend stayed here in the summer of 2009 and we enjoyed our experience very much. Don't expect grand rooms or luxury interior, I would say it's suitable for a group of friends visiting on a short break. People on front reception were friendly, polite, and helpful. I have continued to recommend this hostel to anyone planning a trip to Paris and will definitely consider booking a room here again. — Anonymous , United Kingdom (2011-04-06)

Location! Located right near the Notre Dame in a beautiful building (with elevator which is perfect when u have a heavy backpack)! Breakfast is simple but filling. Rooms are bright and large and showers are the best. Comfy beds too. Totally recommend it! — Lune , Italia (2011-02-16)

Great place! Best location, reasonable breakfast, good key system, big rooms specially the very last one on the top floor. Quiet at night, clean bathrooms, nice staff, amazing beds, and perfect shower pressure (no push up annoying buttons!!). Would stay here again! Probably on my next vacation in Paris! — Jenny S. , South Africa (2010-02-27)

Clean rooms, great staff, perfect location! Amazing building in the most perfect location in Paris, EVER! Honest breakfast included, big rooms with great shower and huge sink. Comfy beds with reading light. Staff always nice and helpful. Despite the slow and expensive internet and no common room, this place is really good! Would stay there again! — Adriana TR , Brazil (2009-06-28)

Fantastic all around -- no complaints! I stayed in this hostel with a friend of mine in August, and we had a wonderful experience! We both had limited knowledge of French, but the people behind the desk were very accommodating. Our room had a lovely view, was always clean, and we never had to worry about our things being safe when we were gone. Breakfast was decent. it's free so you can't be too fussy. The location was ideal -- so good that when we came back to Paris near the end of our trip we requested the exact same hostel! All in all, Maubisson spoiled us, and no other hostel in my travels has ever come close to it. — Susanna , Canadian (2007-10-22)

Friendly Atmosphere! I stayed in Maubuisson with a friend for four nights in june 2007. I contacted the hostal only three days before our arrival and they were very friendly and we could book four nights in Maubuisson and one night in Fourcy (because it's the same owner). The staff was always friendly, they helped us to find cheap restaurants and we were finally allowed to spend our last night in paris in the lobby of this hostel (because of the fact that we were leaving early we did not want to pay another night). The rooms are nice and clean, mostly of four persons, each provided with a shower. The breakfast consists of bread, orange juice, croissant, jam, tea/coffee. There is no common room, so it's a bit difficult to meet other travelers, but we always made friends with the people who shared our room! Something annoying -- in this hostel there are often staying school classes or youth groups, so be prepared for thirty little children running up and down the stairs at 6:30 in the morning! The hostel is located really perfect -- Marais is a very nice quarter (stand up early and take fotos!) and it's within walking distance to the Latin Quarter where you can find a lot of bars and discos. Oh, and don't worry about the curfew (1 a.m.), you just have to tell at the reservation if you're going to be late and they'll let you in. — Lisa , Germany (2007-07-25)

Great Place! Great Staff! Coming from another terrible hostel, I found the staff very helpful! Gerard is a real gentleman and Doudile and Silvia are great too! Basic but nice breakfast, a lift that helps a lot to go upstairs, great showers, and very spacious rooms! Toilets always cleaned and beds very comfy. I had the best view ever to rue Barres and this lovely church right in front of my window, and could see Pantheon and part of the tower of Notre Dame! Even though they dont have meeting facilities, I met some great people as roomates. Everyone has its own keycard access and even accepting groups of kids, they make rules of silence and respect very clear at the arriving without being rude or anything (I saw 2 times and they were even funny by explaining the rules. there were 2 sockets at my room and a small closet which is very useful. They could have a kitchen and would be PERFECT but eating around is so easy and even cheap, that you won't miss it that much! Greetings to Nadia too, who serves breakfast every morning! — Adriana , Brazil (2007-06-23)

Not a bad hostel, certainly. They kick you out for a few hours during the day to clean, and that's a trade-off I don't particularly mind making. Cheap price, warm showers, clean bed, and three minutes away from Notre Dame. Both the fellow and the cute girl working the lobby were nothing but friendly to me, and I enjoyed the conversation. Definitely worth checking into if you're heading to Paris. All of the MIJE hostels in Paris are pretty nice and, although this one gets the lowest rating, it is still far better than many of the places there. — Comte de St. Germain (2006-12-16)

It's a nice place and all, with the beds, toilets, and bedrooms being very clean. However, the 1 a.m. curfew can be a problem if you wanna check out the city by night. Having said that, however, it is a hostel mainly targeted for school groups, so one would understand why the curfew is there. The internet cannot be relied on, and costs the same as the internet cafes where they have reliable connections. Not a place to go to if you wish to socialise, but definitely the best spot in town to catch a good eye's sleep. And the location could not be any better! All three hostels under this management are a stone's throw away from the train stations, and they're all five minutes away from the Seine. Again, highly recommended, but not for party people. Oh, and if you want to make sure you have a room upon arrival, make sure you follow their instructions and call to reconfirm a day before your arrival. — Steven (2006-10-15)
The staff are so rude. I mean the worst I have ever seen in a hostel. There is no electrical socket in the rooms. It is central though. No atmosphere at all. A total waste of time. We hated it. — David (2006-08-03)

It is good, excellent location. I just think there is too strong smell of disinfection everywhere which is not very agreeable on the bed linen.
And if you want to come after one a.m., you can be submitted to not very nice conversation with night guard. — Lauritta (2006-06-14)

This hostel is good. The rooms and showers are very very clean, the shower have hot water and pressure, but the rooms are not super, it seems old. The breakfast was ok -- croissant, baguette, orange juice, coffee or hot chocolate, butter and jam. The staff was ok, they couldnt speak much English, but enough to comunicate. Internet is incredibly expensive. The only real problem is we booked a room at Fourcy and when we arrived there, they just said that there was no reservation and that we should go to Maubuisson. — Ana Luiza (2006-04-20)

I stayed here the summer of 2005. The hostel wasn't very social but we managed to meet people. The rooms were beautiful and in a perfect location, a stone's throw away from Notre Dame, the Latin Quarter, the Seine, and the Louvre. My friend and I had a room with a private bathroom and for the first two nights we were in the room by ourselves, so it was like staying in a hotel. There are a lot of school groups that stay here and they can be rather noisy. I found the staff to be very friendly. They were patient with me and helped me work on my French. The hostel was one of the cleanest I stayed at. — Anonymous (2005-09-06)
The room was okay, nothing special. But the people at the front desk were not always all that helpful or friendly. Plus it has a non-social atmosphere. I would not really recommend this as a place to stay. — Anonymous (2005-05-15)

The location of this hostel is excellent. It's close to all the major tourist attractions but also to the beautiful and quiet streets of Marais and Ile St. Louis. The rooms and showers are very clean. The receptionists are helpful and polite (not fun though). The problem is that they host school groups, which can be quite loud and annoying, plus the atmosphere tends to be depressing. Perfect hostel if you're not traveling alone! — Anonymous (2005-05-02)
