Hostelz.com Guest Reviews
1  Terrible Owner I stayed there for a week in 2008. What a mistake that was. The facilities are not too bad however the owner and staff are mini dictators that seem to revel in the misfortune of their guests. I booked in firstly for 3 days. First night arriving there was nobody to give me keys to enter despite it saying otherwise on the website. I was told the next day I shouldn't have been on the beach all day, when in fact I had been doing day work. the next night coming back someone had been double booked in my reserved bunk and I had to sleep on the floor. I was told this was my fault and I would not receive a refund and I was lucky to be allowed in because they were so busy. Nobody gave me straight answers the whole time I was there.  , UK ()
4  The best crew house to get into the Superyacht industry For the time that i stayed at the crew house i was treated with respect and dignity, Every aspect of my stay there they aim at getting the crew into the industry as soon as possible with a regularly updated board and during each week there are crew that come in off boats docked in the port looking for dayworkers. They also do there best to create an enviroment where you are forced to interact with people all with similar interests by holding a small barbecue every friday (this is not to be missedl). All in all i am definitely going back there when i am back in the south of france!  , South Africa ()
4  Good helpful people working all hours, reasonably priced, excellent for finding both day work and crew positions. by far the best hostel in antibes and the surrounding area.  , GB ()
4  I was there for about a week in 2003 and found nothing wrong with it. I was there for about a week in the summer of 2003 and found nothing wrong with it. It was clean the staff was friendly and helpful, the guests were an interesting bunch from all over the world. As my days there passed, I got the distinct impression that it was very hard to get placed on a yacht. The supply/demand equation was favorable to the yacht owners. I detected some elements of depression among the guests looking for placement and waiting for some news from the agencies. Prospective crew members had to be either extremely lucky, or extremely special. Walking around the harbor, and looking at the white-uniformed crew members working on the tethered boats gave me the distinct impression that youth, good looks, and a cheery attitude favored placement.  , U S A ()
5  Everything thing I could have wanted I stayed in The CrewHouse for 2 weeks in the busy month of March 2010. I couldn't have asked for a better place to settle down in Antibes. The crewhouse is a fully equipped, clean, and great place to network and to get your yachting career off the ground. If you are looking for a hostel which is located right next to all the agencies, bars, and the docks, then go to the crewhouse. Plus its cheaper.  , South Africa ()
4  Good I stayed for 2 weeks in the crew house as I was looking for a job on the yachts. I would recommend it because although it is basic, it is a pleasant place. It is very well situated and the people running it are very helpful.  , uk ()
4  Cool I went back to the Crewhouse after a few years and I was surprise to see that there is now a big kitchen with television and still the courtyard where it all happens. Same friendly atmosphere as I remembered. No regrets.  , GB ()
1  Rats wouldn't come here! This is for squatters! The fridge smelt of death, bins overflowing, dishcloths with mould, sheets with holes, toilets with urine on the floor, showers with mould, and service to think you were an inconvenience. Rats wouldn't come to this place! Three showers for thirty people doesn't help and no hot water at 6:30 a.m. is even worst. What a joke this place is!  , Australia ()
1  Bad We didn't even have the pleasure of staying here. Arriving tired and late on a cold rainy night in the low low season (September), we were told by the woman receptionist -- who obviously was finding it hard trying to retain her underlying hate for all clientele -- that the minimum stay was no less than three days. When we explained that we were in fact doing a course and would stay a total of six days, although not consecutively, she looked at us through her sallow, glazed over face and said that it wouldn't be possible. The only reason I can come up with is that she didn't want to change the sheets? I find that approach neither friendly, nor commercial.  , New Zealand ()
4  I stayed for a few weeks here and I must agree that it's not the cleanest place I've stayed at. But the great thing is that we're free to do whatever we want, no curfew, no lockouts -- although you're expected to clean up behind yourself, wich many people don't respect. And I got daywork and then a job through there. I've met wonderful people and it could be a better place if the other persons were cleaner. To finish, most of of the staff are very kind and helpfull for everything you need.  ()
1  I've just been at the crew house and I wouldn't suggest it to anyone but sailors. It's dirty, ugly, without breakfast, there is only one bathroom for everyone, and the staff is neither friendly nor helpful. When we arrived our room was filthy and full of garbage, we complained but couldn't do anything else but clean it by ourselves. We had to leave 30 euros each for deposit and when we left the lady gave us back less than we deserved. At last we almost lost our train because they opened the reception at 10.  ()
3  though not the cleanest or nicest hostel in Antibes, the courtyard really does rock! eveyone seems to get on for the most part and i once saw Virginie (the owner) smile! cant wait to go back and would definitely stay again. watch out for opportunist thieves though.  ()
5  I was at the crew house last year at the beginning of my stay in Antibes, then again towards the end. I had the best summer ever, met a whole bunch of wicked people from all over the world and definitely made some friends for life! Everyone has a story to tell and the courtyard was the gathering place, whether we hit the town or not after we started drinking! I was there alot even when i had an apartment for seven weeks! Too many drunken nights to remember! No facilities to cook but there is Via Pizza over the road! Hope to get back out there again this summer. Go there, you wont regret it. but oh yes, there definitely is a ghost in the toilets!  ()
5  The Crew House is fab, so ok its not a five star hotel but you get to mix with so many different people and the courtyard is definitely a happening place. If I was to go back I would stay there without a doubt, so many laughs to be had pure fun and games, watch out for the ghost in the toilet though!  ()
4  This place rules, you get to meet very interesting people with some amazing stories to tell. And boy I wouldnt worry about the bed bugs if you knew what really happened in those beds/showers -- wear Jandles in the showers. The crew house is a sweet place to crash -- wicked people go a long way.  ()
