Travellers House Hostel is bright, lively, and cheerful. It has ultra-fast computers, clean showers and toilets, spacious common area, well-equipped kitchen, dining room, self-help bar, and everything a traveler needs.
Location
Travellers House is conveniently located near the airport bus station, tram, and metro, next to the central shopping area, supermarkets, restaurants, and the sea. Right opposite the hostel is the tourist information kiosk. It is a traditional mansion with lofty ceiling and huge windows, fresh air, and natural light. There is no huge, flashy signage, so keep your eye open for a small yet tasteful sign with the name of the hostel.
Reception is located at the first floor with no lift, but the staff offered to help us out with our luggage. We were impressed by its extremely helpful staff. They gave us a quick orientation of the hostel on our arrival so we could settle down in no time. They have all the information we need on sightseeing and Fado show bookings. A hot and sumptuous breakfast is included with toast and eggs, milk and cereals, jam, butter, honey, coffee, tea, juice -- a super value for money.
Rooms
Security is good with a free, huge locker and safe with lock and key for each person. The door of each floor has an electronic lock. The bunk beds are made of solid wood, so they don't creak or shake, ensuring a good night's sleep. Hooks and shelves in the room would make it even better. Toilets are equipped with rolls and rolls of toilet paper.
Common Area
The common area is a great place to hang out and meet other travelers. It tends to get smoky and noisy at night when everybody is around, but our beds are on the third floor so we were not bothered by that. If you need to sleep, be sure to ask for a bed not on the first floor. At the time of our stay, the hostel organizes "Pub Crawl" tours for those who enjoy night life.
Summary
Overall, we had a wonderful stay. The atmosphere is friendly and fun, it is clean, secure, and in a great location -- an ideal house for a traveler!
