3 Ok, so the rooms are severely dated and ours was crawling with bugs, with a very un-comfy mattress. However the staff were really friendly, and the restaurant downstairs was certainly the best meal we had in all of our travels. Go for the food - not the hostel.

5 I went to stay there. The staff are extremely friendly and the bar downstairs is real cheap. If I were going back to Rockhampton I would definitely stay there.

3 Nice homey place to stay. Robbie is wonderful.

3 The staff were super friendly. They were very gracious and took me to my Oz Experience stop at the transit center. The room I was in was not too comfortable...the mattresses were fairly old. The room did have air-conditioning, which was great. The kitchen was very clean. The best thing about this hostel is that it really feels like home. It has a really comfortable atmosphere; there is a living room with a TV and Internet, too.

5 For an excellent backpackers stay, choose this hostel! Staff is excellent, bar and bottle shop downstairs, and the stone-grill steak dinner really can't be beat. Maybe you're not thinking about steak as you book your backpacker stay, but please think again. The price is great, and you cook a fine cut on a stone slab on your plate... I've never had better. Easy in-and-out anytime, no extra charge for loafing about. They supply towels (yay!) and have good kitchen and laundry. Short walk to the K-mart plaza (and Coles) if you need supplies. The trip to Keppel Island is super, and Ascot will store your 'extra' stuff for you while you visit the island.
