The Hostelz.com Review
AAE 11th Avenue Hostel is a fantastic (but quiet) hostel and great value for money.
The Location
The location is good, about a fifteen-minute walk from the free mall shuttle (which is linked to Union Station) and about two kilometres from the Greyhound station. The closest grocery store is about fifteen minutes away. There is limited parking onsite. It is located on Broadway (a main street in Denver) and is three blocks from the Capitol and downtown. There is easy access to buses to take you throughout the city and surrounding suburbs.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm beds are tiny. The beds feel short and they are very thin -- it is difficult to roll over without hitting the side rails (however, this is the only downfall of the dorm rooms). The room also has a couch, TV, and desk. It is great to hang out and relax in your dorm room after a busy day. There are very small lockers in the room for valuables. There is the option of private rooms to eight-person dorm rooms. There are no elevators within the three-story hostel, but the staff are more than willing to assist you with heavy bags. The in-room bathroom is decently sized and there is a sink outside the bathroom. There are additional bathrooms on every floor.
Common Spaces
There aren't really common spaces in the hostel. Guests have access to the housekeeping washing machines and there is a microwave in reception, but there is no kitchen facility or anyplace within the hostel to meet fellow guests. There is Wi-Fi throughout the hostel. There are a number of people who live in the building and are always very friendly when they see you in the lobby or hallways.
Summary
The staff are very helpful. They were very accommodating to our early arrival -- our bus out of Denver was canceled (due to a snowstorm) and so we returned to the hostel late at night. They were able to match the rate we'd paid the previous few nights. We will definitely stay here again!

PLACE IS HORRIBLE! I was assaulted by a staff member there! I slept in the basement with all the homeless and rehabs. A member of the hotel came downstairs and kicked me to wake me up! Long story short after the whole incident i ended up kicked out, police was called and i ended up with a broken pair of headphones and nowhere to sleep. This place is just down right disgusting. DONT GO THERE. — Anonymous , USA (2011-05-17)

Nice updates it looks like this place has done some big changes. We stayed in a dorm room upstairs that was clean and modern. The lobby was brand new. Bathrooms could use more showers, but everything else was good. Free wifi a plus and cant beat the location. Only about 3 blocks from the center of downtown and amtrak station. — Anonymous , France (2010-05-26)
Dont do it Turns out that they house the local homeless and people just out of rehab. Bad! And ive been in some crazy hostels in my live. AAE is not the owner, just a web connection so dont expect you money back. Be safe and go outside of the town. this is ironic because im a hippie!!!! "dont do it" is the quote of the day. — Anonymous , usa (2010-05-25)

Hmmm We were put in the Basement and we (no joke) lived with homeless people and their were cockroaches everywhere, I got bit all over. Im unsure why the management had put us there probably because we asked for their cheapest rooms but I thought they would have used their common sense and see that we did not fit in! The management were really great however friendly and made the effort to make us feel as home and give us advice on places to visit. The upstairs rooms were nice once we had evaded the basement of doom after the first night. If you stay DO NOT stay in the basement its like a scene out of the hills have eyes and pulp fiction, I only slept due to alcohol abuse u have no chance sober as you will be scared for your life. — J J , British (2009-11-13)
