Go Global is a fine place to stay if you’re simply looking to party away the night in the center of Taupo, but if you’re hoping to get a good night’s rest, it’s not the place for you. The hostel is located as close to the Taupo nightlife as you can get. It’s directly above an Irish pub and is right in the middle of downtown, an easy walk to most of Taupo’s boozing establishments.
Of course, being located above a pub (which pretends it’s a dance club some nights) means noise travels straight up into some of the rooms. The hostel also doesn’t particularly bother itself with cleanliness, probably figuring most of its clientele won’t notice a little dirt on the floor after a big night out.
The kitchen and common areas provide the basics, without too much to distinguish this from any other hostel. There is a round pool table in the lobby for a touch of novelty. There is also a large rooftop outdoor seating area just outside the lobby, a nice place to sit on a sunny day and watch the tourists walk by. However, the only real reason to stay here is if you want to make sure it’s only a short stumble back to your bed after a night out on the town.
