"This hostel was excellent except for the owners who make you feel like you're an inconvenience to them! The facilities are great and the beds are very comfortable. The location is not bad; it's between the old town and the bus station, and both are around a 10 to 15-minute walk." … "The location is ok, but a little hard to find. Some extra signing would help. The rooms are clean and comfortable and there are places to buy food at restaurants, etc., down the road. If you like walking,...
Begović Boarding House is situated in the most beautiful part of the city of Dubrovnik in Lapad. The hostel offers a delightful panoramic view with quiet surroundings, pine trees, a lovely beach in the neighbourhood and clean air. This is ideal place for either relaxing or active holiday with a great choice of activities in the vacinity. Post office, bank, bars, restaurants, shopping centar, tennis courts and market nearby (3-5 min by walking) 10 min bus drive to Old Town (3 km from...
"Is Villa Banana (or "Vila Banana" as they spell it) a bright, blue gem in a city with limited options? Not exactly. It is bright and blue and in a city with very limited hostels, yet it has more to be desired. Overall this hostel is a decent sleep, especially if you're doing a longer stay in Croatia. The hostel can be booked through the Dubrovnik Youth Service online or via telephone. The hostel owner will pick you up for free at the main harbor and bus station, because the hostel is...

Stunning -- that's what best describes Dubrovnik. I have not stopped thinking about Dubrovnik since I left last summer and am eagerly figuring out how to return. I can't recommend it highly enough. Go see what a gem this city really is!

I planned to stay three days, and ended up extending for a week. It's fairly expensive, but well worth it. Absolutely gorgeous, and really good public transportation (buses), so you can stay further away from the walled city and saved some money, but not lose a lot of time getting to and from your accommodations. The best time to spend in the city/at cafes is in the evening, as the cruise ship crowds have gone back to their boats. I had a problem with mosquito bites in the evenings, though, so you may want to take bug spray.

My family is Croatian and I came to Dubrovnik to visit and absolutely fell in love with the city. Currently I am looking for a place to rent out and a job because I do not want to return to the states. Be careful, this is the sort of place you will travel to and not want to leave.

Dubrovnik is sizzling and very pretty. I cannot find words to express my pleasure visiting that city ten days ago.

Dubrovnik is lovely but overpriced! Stay in Lapad area which is near Lapad beach and full of shops, bars, and not too pricey.

Dubrovnik is very pretty but there's no real backpacker scene. It's overrun with couples, families, European tour groups of senior citizens, the jet-set crowd, and the see-and-be-seen crowd. Prices are ridiculously expensive! The Old Town is gorgeous but I wouldn't stay here for any length of time.

I first saw and walked through Dubrovnik at the age of seventeen. It remains my favorite little city in the entire world. Beautiful scenery, the Adriatic, the little shops and eateries. We took a boat to Cavtat and a few other islands. The most beautiful location in the world. Take in the old world feel.

If you want to avoid the crowds, Dubrovnik is best visited between April-May or September-October. In the high season, the old town is packed. If you have been traveling around Croatia and are sick of pizza, I'd recommend Fresh. It's a good place to meet other travellers and they serve wraps and smoothies.

Dubrovnik really is paradise. It doesn't have long sandy beaches with palm trees and coconuts but it does have the most amazing old city I have ever come across. The old city walls protect the ancient town, and it's full of marvelous little restaurants, shops and entertainment. You'll be walking around with a sore neck from taking in the grand and spectacular ancient buildings. I would recomend a day trip to one of the islands just offshore. We went to one and found a hidden lake where we just sat in the sun and swam in the warm clear lake. A perfect location for a couple of relaxing days in the sun.
