Hostelz.com's Review
Old Town Hostel is a boutique hostel/guesthouse in the centre of Dubrovnik.

The Location

This hostel is one of only a handful of hostels located smack bang in the heart of Old Town Dubrovnik. If you are arriving from the main bus station, you have to walk onto the main road outside the station and take local bus 1A or 1B into town. The local bus will drop you at the gate to Old Town. Walk through the gate and the hostel is up the third street on your left. Most of the main tourist attractions are within walking distance of the Hostel. There are also a number of mini markets, restaurants, and bars nearby. The hostel provides information about day trips and maps of the local area for guests.

Rooms and Bathrooms

There are private rooms and dorm rooms available, with four rooms in total. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable, with individual reading lights and power outlets. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, which makes it very hot during the summer months. There are a number of portable fans in the rooms, making this more bearable. Although the location is the best part of this hostel, the problem is that it is very noisy from the streets, making it difficult for guests to sleep. The bathrooms are communal, and are out in the main hall. The bathrooms are a toilet/shower combo, which means that you might struggle to find a free toilet during peak period. Showers may be hot or cold and the water pressure is average.

Common Spaces

The common spaces consist of a kitchenette and a small dining room. The kitchen is very basic, with only one hob for cooking, a fridge, and no oven. There is no kettle or toaster. The dining room is small but social, and it is easy to meet other like-minded travelers. There are also two communal laptops and a book exchange for use by guests. Wi-Fi is included in the price, and works throughout the hostel. Further, breakfast is included in the price, and is very basic, but free.

The owners have recently acquired this hostel, so it is a work in progress. Considering the location, this hostel has the potential to be outstanding.

5   Great place Great location just off the stradun. staff were really helpful and it's also a good place to meet other travelers. The owner really goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and is a great host. Could not fault facilities or cleanliness.  , age 35, uk ()
3   Location though it can be a bit noisy sometimes it is in the middle of old town. Everything you need might be around but way too expensive as in every touristic area of the world and breakfast could be much better. Still a good place to stay.  , Canada ()
