Pfefferbett Hostel is a modern and centrally-located hostel in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district.
The Location
The hostel is located close to the U-bahn station Senefelderplatz. From this station you can take the U-bahn to Alexanderplatz. The hostel is in a safe area with lots of cafes, restaurants, galleries, and shops nearby, but it is not a noisy area. There is a great organic supermarket within a two-minute walk of the hostel too. Once you work your way around the public transport system (which anyone visiting Berlin will have to do very quickly!) it’s a great starting point for exploring the city.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Dorm rooms are available with four to eight beds, and private rooms are also available. The hostel is very modern, and has a good security and locker system. Beds are comfy and have reading lights, and linen is provided -- beds are made up prior to arrival. The shower and toilet are within the dorm rooms, and are modern and clean (timer showers, but the hot water isn’t cut after the time limit, so a very minor inconvenience given that everything else about this place is great!) The rooms are bright, clean, and fairly spacious.
Common Spaces
The common area/dining room is popular, with many travelers meeting there during the day and in the evening -- drawn by the free internet access (three computers provided), open fireplace, billiards table, table football, and bar. There is no kitchen available for use by guests, but the bar serves meals and has a buffet breakfast (not included). A laundry is available for guest use. The hostel common space also has a book exchange. Pfefferbett attracts a mostly young backpacker crowd, with a few groups and older travelers. Although the bar is open twenty-four hours and a lot of guests use the common space in the evening, it is not a particularly loud/party hostel, and you shouldn’t have any trouble getting a good night’s rest.
Summary
The Pfefferbett is a great hostel -- clean, modern, and with the facilities that will suit most people for a short-term stay in a fascinating city.
