The various beaches, the picturesque harbour, the traffic-free shopping streets, the Kursaal casino, the racing court and many other recreational options make for lively entertainment all year round. De Ploate is very centrally located.

Better impression A far better impressions than other travelers here. I stayed one night and found a bed without reservation in the middle of the afternoon. Ideally located at the centre of th e city, two blocks from the seaside. I stayed in a eight-bed room with six other people. This hostel makes full use of the fact that they are the only hostel in Ostend. During my stay (Feb 2006) I was absolutely eaten by bedbugs. When I came to check out they had somehow lost my YHA membership card. The rooms are in desperate need of redecoration. The shower in the room leaked water all over the floor of the room, so if you had anything on the floor it would get wet! The included breakfast was very basic, and there was no kitchen available. I would say stay somewhere else except there is nowhere else in Ostend to stay. — Wahl (2006-11-27)

The accommodations (rooms and furniture) are outdated. The staff are friendly though, and the meals are good. If you want to go out, you get the key, which is nice. — Vincent (2005-04-26)
