I fell in love with Odense.
Copenhaga - what a grooooooooovy city! Sex in the city!!! ;) And tequila in the tequilabar!
Odense is a pretty little city with very friendly Danes. They all speak English and are happy to do so, unlike some other places I've visited. The Hans Christian Anderson museum is pretty interesting. You won't learn much about the fairy tales, but you'll get a feel for the man himself. He was pretty amazing! The streets of Odense are beautifully maintained. Watch out for bikes, there are thousands! Walk or bike alongside the river in summertime, it's beautiful! In August Odense hosts the 'Odense International Film Festival'. Most films are either in English, or have subtitles. And it's FREE! In a nutshell, I found Odense well worth the visit.
I went to Skagen two summers ago travelling with the Blue Lake Fine Arts Band (a camp located in MI, US) and it was so wonderful! I loved the view off the coast at the northern-most tip. All in all, I had a wonderful time and spending a summer there sounds like a great idea.
I have been in Odense for five months. It was the best days of my life. I want to go there again!
My daughter took my husband and me to Skagen in 2000 for a 2 day visit. It wasn't nearly enough time. She was an exchange student from Canada that year. Skagen was the first place she took us to. I can't get it out of my mind and I want to spend a summer there one year. The sooner the better. I LOVE SKAGEN. The museum is an absolute must see. I bought 4 prints. The artist colony from the turn of the last century was an amazing group of artists. My daughter is also planning on going back to Denmark one day.
