very nice, friendly and helpful staff at the reception (english-speaking). twenty-four hours open. hostel is very central (république metro station ca five minutes' walk away. a lot of restaurants, takeaways, supermarkets, and stores nearby. bathroom at the apartment. breakfast existing (one bap, one croissant, jam, butter, coffee/cocoa/tea, cereal). elevator existing. free internet. kitchen existing (for cooking for yourself), you are allowed to use the fridge, too. But very, very tiny room and bathroom and not very clean. you have to buy some food for yourself for the breakfast (cheese, sausage, food/vegetable), then it can be really ok. It is a basic hotel/hostel and don't have too much expectations. but for travelers who want to visit and experience the wonderful city paris, it is a great hostel to sleep!

i went to paris for five days on january 2008 and the hostel was very good and so clean. it's near the subway and there is a supermarket, mcdonalds, and several arabic restaurants. i will go again!

The bathrooms are the best thing about this hostel. Breakfast and location are good as well. But the rooms are tiny. And the staff is horrible! They did not help us with anything. One bed was broken and they suggested to the girl to look up in other rooms to find herself a bed. For free you'll get just one sheet and the blanket is really dirty. For the second sheet you'll have to pay two EUR per night. We met three guys behind the front desk and two of them did not give us a single smile during the four days. The youngest, Idir, was nice and friendly -- the only friendly person in this hotel we had chance to meet. Generally I have stayed at worse hostels but I've never met worse staff!

This was the first hostel that I encountered that had accurate directions to find it. The breakfast was really nasty, but there is a small store right outside the door, so it wasn't a big deal. I was in a very small room (two bunk beds) with a private en suite. It's good for meeting people, because this hostel is lacking a general chat area (the reception/computer area is too small for this). The key situation is ridiculous. One key for four independent people is not realistic: if you stay out later than the rest of your roommates, you force those that are sleeping to wake up and let you in. It sucks if your roommates choose not to wake up for you, or if you are sleeping and don't want to wake up! You need to trust these people, though — there are no lockers in the room or elsewhere. It wasn't an issue for me, but there have been cases of random people asking for the key at the front door, raiding the suite, and leaving. The reception person is super nice, very helpful and understanding. The breakfast/cleaning staff are not so fantastic. Prepare to be propositioned if you walk around this area alone! Nice canal, though. I thought it was fairly clean. Even after all that, the price is right, the people are friendly, and I would stay here again.

I found this hotel-hostel rather unsafe. It's in a dirty and sketchy area of the city, whose seediness is magnified at night. They use a one-key system here (one key shared between the four people in the dorm), and to get the key all you do is tell the receptionist your room number. Potentially anyone can just ask for your room key, go up and (since there aren't any lockers) steal your stuff. The hostel is essentially a slightly run-down hotel, so the rooms are just old, small hotel rooms crammed with two bunk beds. The bathroom is clean, but make sure you get a room with a shower curtain, because ours didn't have one. I didn't come back here on my return visit to Paris, and I can tell you there are better places to stay in the city.

Yay for fresh towels and a bathroom (our four-bed room had en suite). Ridiculously small crowded rooms, but they're fine if you strike it lucky and don't have to share with too many people. The hostel is close to lots of fabulous areas and shops, etc. and pretty inexpensive given Paris prices in general. Good maps available at reception. No atmosphere at all, though, if you're wanting to meet other travelers (though striking up conversations with those in the room can beat that problem relatively quickly). I would stay there again.

Not bad, not great. Every room is very clean and had its own bathroom. However, even with the window open and the heater off the room was really hot. Other than that, no complaints. Not good, not bad, merely average.

I really liked this hostel — and the best part were the bathrooms in the rooms! The rooms are pretty small, but that's not really a problem. We met a lot of really cool people, and were able to party late in the rooms and downstairs (although we almost got the cops called on us). Most of the staff people are really cool, too. It was one of the best hostels that I have stayed in.

Although the rooms are extremely small (smaller than other hostels I've stayed at), I thought it was quite good for a hostel. The staff does not restrict your coming and going, and it was fantastic to have a bathroom in our room. Also, I met some great people while staying there. I realize travelers will vary, but it seemed that everyone staying there was really pleasant and friendly. Oh, and the location is quite good — relatively close to many major sites and fun nightlife. My experience was, overall, rather good.

This hotel has very, very bad security. You're better off spending your money wisely somewhere else; otherwise you may end up losing your suitcase by theft, and have to make a report to the police without any help from the staff and the hotel owner. It will ruin your planned trip.

Don't be fooled by the pictures. This hostel was awful. Although the staff were nice, the beds seemed dirty, the bathroom was barely usable, and the rooms were dark and unwelcoming. The door did not always lock. This was the worst hostel we encountered on our trip.

This hotel sucked. The service was horrible. The rooms smelled. Also, the walls are so thin that I heard the person in the next room having sex.

Great place to stay. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The hostel is super clean and there are lots of cheap places to eat at nearby.

I stayed in this hotel/hostel with my girlfriend for 5 days. We payed 66,6 euro for a double room. The room was nice and faced the opposite direction from the main street, so there was no noise. On the other hand, the view was kind of boring. Our toilet was cleaned every day, but the bed was only made once in 5 days. We met 4 different people working at the desk: a really nice young guy who loved coldplay; a young, energetic woman who spoke really good english; and the best, an approx. 45-year-old, big French man who loved jazz and started a major party everytime he was at work. He was so nice to us after we came home at 4 o' clock in the morning, and he really loved his work! But the last guy (also about 45, but much thinner) was so obnoxious and lame. My girlfriend got an infection and he wouldn't help us, but got angry instead. He was rude to us, the other guests, and even his own colleagues--what an asshole!!! The bad days at the hotel were when he was working; all the other days were great! We thought the closest metro station was Republique, but Goncourt is a bit closer. If you want to meet some other travelers, this is a good place. We met some really nice folks with whom we'll try to stay in contact!

This hostel was the best ever! We had our room (which said of 8, but it only ended up being 4), our own bathrooms with nice towels, and everything was clean. I ate dinner on the floor, that's how clean it is. Our room faced the main street and it got loud at night, but if you close the windows it's fine. We had to put our luggage in the hallway, but nothing happened to it. The staff was great; I asked for him to take a picture of me and my friend and he went off about his being a professional photographer and was so careful about taking our picture with my cheap disposable. I definitely recommend this place. There are cheap restaurants all around, too. I only spent 4 euros on average for a meal.
