Pension Mari-Luz

Pension Mari-Luz is a quiet hostel located in a beautiful apartment building a few blocks away from La Rambla. The rooms are very clean, if not very exciting, with bunks, large lockers, a sink, and glasses for drinking water. Most also have a balcony overlooking either the street or the peaceful courtyard inside the building. The bathrooms are clean and the water is hot.

There is no common area, only a few chairs in the entry hall, so it's not the best place to go if you're looking to meet people, but it's great if you want to be close to the action but don't want the constant noise of being right on a main street. It is on the third floor (fourth in the U.S.), so not for people with an aversion to stairs. The staff are friendly and speak English.

To get there, take the metro Line 3 to Liceu, walk a few blocks south on La Rambla (towards the water), turn left onto Carrer de Ferran, (between the McDonald's and KFC), walk up Carrer de Ferran a few blocks until you see the Hotel Rialto on the right, turn right onto Carrer del Pas de L'Ensenyanca. A few blocks down, the hostel will be on your right, just before the street ends in a T.
