"I stayed at this hostel last summer and at first I was a bit scared because no one spoke English and the building was old and seemed like an empty mental institution. But it turn out very clean, quiet, and people were really friendly and helpful. The only problem is that it is a bit far from city center. I think it is a good choice if you want a quiet and not expensive place" … "Ugly but...

"Remember when you looked forward to going to stay overnight with your slightly eccentric Uncle? Well that pretty much sums up a stay at Juraj's Hostel. Juraj is the proprietor, receptionist, tour guide, handyman, and life of the hostel. He goes out of his way to make your stay in Bratislava enjoyable, from station pickups/drop offs to guiding you to all the best places to see (and eat and...
"The best single word to describe Gabriel's hostel is "unique." Gabriel is friendly enough but it appears his hostel is an old flat into which a number of bunk beds have been pushed. The DIY handiwork is probably safe, but looks scary and the style of decor could be summarised as eclectic. There are two showers - a normal sized one and a small one - try them both for a joke! The hostel is...

Bratislava Travel Tips & Suggestions

It's a small and cosy city, beautiful, and with a "village" essence. Things are very cheap! It's small so everything is reachable by a short walk! There are nice Slovakian people! There's not enough party -- even Bratislava inhabitants say their city is really boring! I would recommend visiting the city, though.

Bratislava is indeed a rather dull, boring city -- becoming more and more like a non-place inhabited and frequented by people who found a new religion called consumerism. Not to mention the "Partyslava" tourists and expats who would vote for this city.

Bratislava is a relatively uneventful and boring city. I probably wouldn't come back again.

Bratislava is a perfect place for cheap holidays! It's a quite nice and picturesque city with very friendly and pure people. They have great and very cheap food. Just great!

Everyone should come to Bratislava once in a lifetime if only to remind yourself how lucky you are to live in the West.

My tip for Bratislava would be to take your time looking around the city and enjoy the cafe culture of the city. The old castle deserves a walk up to as well as the oldest church in Bratislava - looks creepy though!! I found the food to be very good while the prices are amoung some of the lowest in Central Europe.

Bratislava is a great little city. It's extremely compact, and it's full of people relaxing and drinking in outdoor cafes. Good luck finding good accommodation though...
