"I had a great weekend in the Blue Mountains. The owners made us feel very welcome and at home. They were a great source of knowledge about the area, telling us where to go, what to see, how to avoid the tourists and how to save money! It was a pity about the weather the second day we were there; nothing you can do about that, though. At least the hostel had really good, fast Internet in a private room and a good collection of videos to keep us entertained. My advice: if you're visiting Katoomba visit this hostel. "This hostel is horrible. We were told that it was $25 per night for a 6-bed dorm but when we got there it was $30 for a 10 bed! The rooms and bathrooms were dirty. The kitchen shuts at 8.30pm and reopens any time after 8.30am. It was after 9am when it opened during our stay. There are no cups -- staff said they had all been stolen or broken. There are no carpets in the building and it is SO noisy. The doors slam all night and early morning. Oh, and there was no lock on our door and one of the lads had his camera and MP3 player stolen!"...  more »

"Great! - My friend and I thought the owners of this Lodge were so sweet! They actually gave us a discount because we were broke, and for a place that only charges $22 or so for a dorm you've got to be impressed by that. About the place, the rooms were cold but we had electric blankets so that was fine (we were in room 5 -- not sure if all rooms do though). The place was a classic too -- hilariously decorated in faux velvet wallpaper, faded paintings and christmas tinsel everywhere leftover from 1963. Can't say enough good things about it!"...  more »

"Beautiful and quiet - This was one of the best hostels I stayed in OZ. Nice, clean, friendly and not too big, also close to the nature. What else do you want? And the town center with the train station is just walking distance. Beautiful to relax." … "Very clean, very quiet at night, and situated perfectly walking distance from Katoomba Station and close to Leura Mall.
