A really wonderful and adorable place. It's important to note that it's not actually in Salzburg (you need to take the train one stop to get to the city), but this wasn't a problem for us. Kasern is so beautiful; it was actually nice to be out of but very near the city, get fresh air, and walk around the big fields. The rooms were very nice, with sinks and shared decks overlooking beautiful alpine views. Breakfast was simple but had lots of options. The service was somewhat curt. A place we'd go back to.

I have been visiting Salzburg for several years and have always stayed at Haus Christine. The view from the top of the hill that you walk up is simply breath-taking, with Salzburg in the valley, and Untersberg in the background. If you want to experience an Austrian family surrounding, this is the place to stay. Christine speaks English, and will help making your tour reservations.

First the negatives: the place is located way out of town and the train in to Salzburg only comes once an hour. Also, the breakfast described above is a lie. All I received were a few bites of scrambled eggs, a roll, juice and coffee. The good things are that the family is very friendly, and the rooms are nice. Some have balconies that give you perfect mountain views. This is as close to the experience of living with an Austrian family as one might be able to get.

The breakfast is as described--not a British "fry up" but a perfectly reasonable continental breakfast. It's not located in Central Salzburg, so it would be the wrong choice if you are looking for this. It's a few minutes train ride and then a short walk uphill to Panoramaweg, which as you might expect does offer a great panorama of the city. It's a good choice if you would like to stay in the countryside but still be close to Salzburg. Christine is a friendly host.

If you see more in an accommodation than sausage and eggs and aren't too lazy to walk up a short slope, I recommend this great place. Very friendly, comforting, and Austrian home experience. The rooms were nice and warm, and the place had fanastic views over the mountains, worth the walk I say. Cristine was very welcoming and a great host, very helpful. It's cheap and an experience, visit!

Bob's special tours (sound of music) as well, what a joke and a rip off. The woman who took it was very rude and agressive and kept telling us to hurry up. Also she drove through the mountains on her mobile phone. Don't waste your money on this one.

Don't stay here. It's thoroughly misleading what it says on the website. There is not full hot sausage and egg breakfast, its way up a hill, and there are no ensuites. Christine will probably ask you to share with other people arriving as well. THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED.
