HI - YHA Pwll Deri Hostel in Goodwick … Have been back several times and will be several more -- it is stunning. Five stars for the glorious situation, three stars for the actual accommodation, five stars for atmosphere.

HI - YHA Manorbier Hostel in Manorbier … Located just off the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and within a few miles of the train station, the Manorbier hostel was a welcome site when this weary walker arrived from Tenby on a very wet, windy day (May 2006). Looking like the set for a sci-fi movie, the hostel building used to be military personnel housing. Because the dorms and smaller (two-, four-, and eight-person) rooms are in separate areas, even if there are large groups booked in, it's possible to stay sane. My friend and I shared a very small two-bed (bunk bed) room, which was basic but fine for the price (about 11 British pounds each). Kitchen and living room facilities are pleasant, but the kitchen equipment was in need of some minor repair, and pots/pans/dishes were limited. Guests are free to keep food in the fridge. Staff were helpful, and there are some washers and dryers (fee per wash load). The drying room was scruffy but usable.

Its romantic cliff-top setting is definitely what makes this place deserve at least a two night stay …
