For calmness and peace, Rättvik is the place to stay! The nature is so beautiful as is Lake Siljan. It's a lovely, small town.
I visited Falun with my family in the winter of 2000. We stayed with my friend Kent Hurtig, in his parents' beautiful home. I loved Falun. I returned to Falun in the summer of 2004, after a brief stay in Stockholm. It was totally different in the summer. I saw P-Floyd on that Saturday night in July - a very good band. Thank you Sverige.
HI - STF Orsa Hostel in Orsa … Orsa is located in central Sweden and it has lots of lakes. The lake freezes in winter and so people will came here to sky. There is a Bear park that you can see in 1-2 hours and you can get there by bus in the afternoon.
The hostel is very nice and clean. Reception open from 17-19h so if arrive later than this you have to wait on the street. There is a bathroom in the room but shower and kitchen are on the corridor.
The average age of the guest was quiet high but people were very friendly.
If you walk outside the hostel about 200 meter, just follow the hiking signs you get to a very high metal bridge. Go below that and you have a 3 hours fantastic view by going upriver and then then downriver from the other side till Orsa central.

STF/HI Youth Hostel Rättvik in Rättvik … We stayed here with six persons in april 2007, a nice hostel. Clean rooms, shower, and toilet. A nice kitchen where you can cook yourself in a big common room. There is a television and free internet access. Nice staff, only thing is that the reception has limited opening hours in the winter. The town itself is nice, but really small. The Siljan lake is beautiful.
