Eplet Bed & Apple in Solvorn … Eplet made our holiday in Norway. Everything said about it is true, it is a haven among stunning countryside, its is a hide-away, it is full of fun people. It is a real gem, and I would recommend it whole-heartedly.
Eplet Bed & Apple in Solvorn … The Bed and Apple is by far the most amazing "hostel" I have ever stayed in. Trond Henrik, the host, sleeps in his office during the summer and opens his house to guests. You have full use of his excellent kitchen, dining room, library, hammocks, music system and balconies with the best Fjord view in Norway. To top this he lives in an orchard and you may eat any fruit you pick: raspberries, apples, and cherries.
The scenery was amazing, and we spent a week there and couldn't even do half of the activities Trond offers to help organize. There is kayaking, hiking, glacier walks, and best of all, Trond will lend you state-of-the-art mountain bikes for free so you can go on local tours. Solvorn is tiny, secluded and un-touristy, yet has a well-stocked shop and is close to Sogndal, the administrative center for the district, which is easily accessed by bus; and from where you can get to Oslo or Bergen very easily.
I cannot recommend the "Bed and Apple" highly enough. Very reasonable…
Sogndal Vandrerhjem Hostel in Sogndal … This is in a really nice location and is great for getting up to the glacier. They have great facilities--large kitchen, large common area with TV. The place is a little old and "rustic" but is clean. I stayed towards the end of the season and it was very quiet with hardly anybody around. It's an easy walk from the bus station--straight down the main road and it's on the left just before the bridge.
HI - Borlaug Hostel in Borlaug … It is a nice hostel. In Borlaug is nothing to do but it is ok to visit Borlaug, even for a half a hour. Well, you can make a trip to the top of the hill to a water fall. Maybe next year for me.
The employees of the hostel in Borlaug are very kindly. But when you order a piza for 2 persons, 1 person have to wait for the piza because they can make only 1 piza at a time. But don't order 2 piza's, 1 is enough. Well, it was enough for us.
Sogndal Vandrerhjem Hostel in Sogndal … Sogndal Vandrerhjem is not very visible from the road, but there is a good sign on the road and it's easy to find. This hostel has lovely surroundings of fields and trees, and is very near the fjord. It's within walking distance of the bus station along the town's only main road…
HI - Flåm Hostel in Flåm … Flåm Vandrerhjem and Camping is located in the town of Flåm, a popular fjord resort location. Flåm is located at the tip of the longest fjord in Norway. It's beautiful and can be reached by car or boat, but the scenic trip on the train (Flåmsbana) is a must. The train stops at a waterfall…
