Not so great, didn't live up to expecatations Turtle Cove (Surf! ahem, see below) has a bit of a monopoly in Tofo with few BP to choose from and so suffers a bit with customer service. Yes, I'm backpacking and can handle the usual issues that come with the territory but the general attitude of the staff wasn't the best. We felt staff response to issues we had was poor and sometimes didn't get response at all. You just get the feeling that the staff are made up of lost souls passing through and have no real interest in anyone but themselves. Staff get drunk -- we get it! Running a BP is hard work and you deserve a drink! But when this is at the detriment of your paying guests it's not fair. We had a number of day excursions arrange only for the next day to be canceled, changed, or completely forgotten! Turtle Cove "Surf" is also a joke. Don't expect much surf equipment from them. Damaged boards, leashes so short you couldn't even get to the end of the board, broken fins ("don't worry mate, it surfs fine with just one fin" -- why don't they make them with one fin then!?). Oh, and price fluctuations (up of course) during your rent of boards and accommodation! Apparently they have to keep in line with the Rand. Sorry, but where I come from you get a quote and have that price throughout your stay. You can't go bumping it up. I did speak to the owner to politely try and iron out a few of the issues. This was met with the same attitude as the rest of the staff. His recruitment policy became very clear. Hire staff like me. I would look elsewhere if I went back to Tofo. — G , UK (2009-12-25)
