The Hostelz.com Review
A fun but not too wild hostel. The first thing you see when you walk in is the walls are hand painted with art inspired by famous paintings. Then when you go up the stairs there is the less formal art of drawings and quotes from people who have stayed in the hostel in previous years (graffiti basically). If you have nothing better to do with your time in Florence you could spend days reading the graffiti. Or you could also use the free internet. The rest of the hostel has a dining/TV room and there are upstairs and downstairs outdoor patio areas. The outdoor areas are especially nice, with stone sculptures, a fountain, and lots of folliage.

It's a social hostel and it's a good place to meet other backpackers. They do sell beer at the reception desk, but it's not really a party hostel. They don't take reservations and you need to show up early to get a bed (about 9 AM).

What a good place
Wow. What a place. I never thought I will find a hostel like that in Italy, and there is was. Clean, not to big or impersonal, great breakfast (they even have egg dishes) for free, nice dorms with bathroom, free internet downstairs and in the room (Wi-Fi), nice garden, super friendly staff, good prices for food and drink, cheap and very tasty homemade style dinners, free Florence walking tours. Right on, the Archi Rossi in Florence is a hostel worth talking about on many continents. Six stars, oops, only five possible here.

Pretty nice
this is a pretty big and nice hostel. the staff is really friendly and helpful, there's about six computers with internet but there's usually a wait to use them. however there is a pretty cheap internet cafe right across the street. the walls are all covered with graffiti and art from various guests which gives it a really cool vibe, and the rooms themselves are pretty big with decently sized locking wardrobes. it also has a complimentary breakfast that was pretty good. the downsides to this hostel are its 2 a.m. curfew (we actually ended up getting back one night at about 5:30 and had to wait for the hostel to open up in the morning to get back in), there's only two or so bathrooms per floor so there was sometimes a wait to shower, and about two days after we arrived, my self and two of my friends ended up getting a rash that slowly spread over our body. it was too bad, and i can't be certain what caused it (i don't think it was anything in the room since my other friend and our roommates didn't get a rash). i think it was the soap we were given at the front desk, since my friend that didn't get the rash was the only one that didn't wash his clothes while we were there. i'd recommend this hostel to most people, but maybe not to the more wild people out there that plan on staying out late and making lots of noise when they come in.

Great place
I really liked this hostel. Everything was clean, the internet was free, location was great (and hostel was easy to find), and the breakfast was probably the best I had at any of the hostels I stayed at on my trip. The place has a neat atmosphere as well. There's a nice outdoor terrace and the hallways have graffiti written all over them, which is kind of neat. I would definitely stay here again. Lockers in the room. Free internet. Free breakfast.

Good hostel
Great hot breakfast available. Free internet limited to thirty minutes a day, but decent. Interesting frescoes/paintings/graffiti everywhere. Cheap drinks and snacks at the reception. Big lockers in the room for each bed. Pretty close to train station. Pretty nice staff. Pretty good place overall.

Clean, friendly, and excellent location
This is a great hostel, clean facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and is close to the train station as well as being within walking distance to the main attractions.

Very clean
This place was clean, and in a decent location not very far from the train station. It is a fairly social place, although it does not have a bar. The breakfast is huge also, which is nice. The only problem was the staff was rude and "reservations" don't seem to mean much there.

Great hostel. The young italian guy at the front is super helpful. they even let me keep my bag for the weekend free while i went out of the country. overall all a great place to go -- free internet and breakfast, lots of interesting people, very close to the train station so i would definitely recommend it.

I stayed here 2 nights in January 07. The price seemed reasonable, and everything was pretty clean. The location of the hostel is great, it's right by the train station, and I felt safe walking around alone at night. It's also close to the city center. I would stay there again.

Archi Rossi is one of the best hostels I stayed at in Europe. Even though the showers are a bit scarce if you are in a shared shower situation, the breakfast is excellent, rooms are clean, and the vibe is awesome. It's not a drinking-all-night/party hostel for twenty-year-olds, but a very social one and conducive to meeting cool people. I'd recommend it to anyone and so happy I stayed here!

The main problem with this place was the only time to get a hot shower was right after they reopened after lockout at 2:30 p.m. until about 4 p.m. The rest of the time they were cold and a bit grubby (as the shower and toilet was in a tiled cubicle attached to each room and people walking on wet floors tracked dirt in). But the breakfasts were good including cooked options and the gardens would be nice in summer. Rooms are good and the laundry liquid they give you for the washing machines also smells really nice!

This is an excellent hostel. The breakfast is nice and hardy, the shower is hot with great water pressure, it is clean, and in a great location. If I am ever in Florence again, this is where I will stay.

I really liked this hostel!I have stayed there in October and I wish I could return back one day. It's centrally located close to train station and to the sights. The staff was amazingly friendly, welcoming, and the hostel itself has a very good about it. The rooms are very clean, great bathrooms inside the room. Lovely garden. The breakfast really make the price of the hostel worth it. It's not that often you find hostel that offers you breakfast like this one! I found the luggage room helpful. It saves lots of energy and some money to be able to leave you're luggage in there after check out, so I really appreciated it. Only bad point I found is that there was no kitchen (and the small fridge in the corridor was full of stuff). it was not really problem for me, but could be for someone who plans to stay for longer and would prefer to cook for himself/herself from time to time. I would definitely recommend this place. It was just one of the very few hostels that will stay in my mind for long.

I found this to be a great place to stay on a two night visit in October 2006. The breakfasts are indeed jolly good -- the second best I've ever found in a hostel -- and the neighboring streets are full of restaurants. The showers worked, there is a laundry (ask for free soap at the reception desk), and it was all pretty civilised. The only bad point was the graffiti on the walls along the stairs. The scribblings seems to be officially encouraged, but goodness knows why on earth the owners want a decent hostel in a beautiful city to take on the appearance of a public lavatory. Some of the graffiti was in questionable taste, and after the impressive artistic decoration of the ground floor it was a bit of a letdown. Fortunately, the dorms are much more civilised. So, simply close your eyes on the stairs, and it's an ideal place to stay!

Stayed here two nights in June. Seemed like a really good hostel, a good place to stay for a while. Incredible breakfasts, good location, excellent facilities. I found it kind of hard to meet people there in my two days, but that could have just been me becoming travel-weary. Certainly recommended.
