The Hostelz.com Review
Ostello Archi Rossi Hostel is decent, tidy, and clean. The environment, decoration, and everything is nice. Breakfast is also available in the hostel restaurant and included in your rate. There is neither a lockout nor a curfew. The higher bed rate is worth it for the comfy environment.
The Location
The hostel is located close to the main station Firenze S.M.N. -- less than ten minutes on foot. However please note that the numbering system of streets in Florence is not quite intuitive and the number actually jumps back and forth a lot, so do allow yourself a bit more time to look for the place (this applies to all hostels in Florence). As a result, some online map services, such as Google Map, mislocate the location of some hostels. Nearby you can find a convenience shop open until midnight. Major tourist spots are all within twenty minutes' walking distance.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms are spacious and tidy. There is an individual door lock for every room. The privacy level is high -- you will have your own wardrobe with a lock as well as a computer with Wi-Fi inside the rooms. You can collect your personal Wi-Fi username and password at check-in. Bedsheets and a pillow are included in the price.
Bathrooms are available inside your room and in common area. The bathroom is clean and equipped with everything you need except towel, lotion, and shampoo. Hot water is almost instantaneous. However you may need to queue up a bit in morning as there is only one bathroom in a four-person room.
Common Spaces
The hostel has a TV room with restaurant and a computer area, but the high degree of privacy of this hostel does prevent different people from interacting a lot. Common areas are not located conveniently and thus not expected to be extensively used.
Summary
The hostel is a nice and tidy place, facilities and services are excellent, and you will have a lot of privacy here. However, it is not a perfect place for meeting people or partying.

Pretty good Over all pretty good. Shower and toilet a bit close though. Excellent breakfast, the best I've ever had in a hostel. — Phil , Australia (2012-05-12)

Nice hostel Friendly, clean and pretty -- esp the Inner courtyard. But that exactly becomes annoying at Night when guests sit outside and chat. Every word echoes and sleeping is not possible. A Simple Solution would be to close the courtyard, say, at midnight. Yes, you could close the windows. But with almost 30•Celsius outside and all beds in the dorm full you would simply suffocate. — Cathrin Eszbach , Germany (2011-06-06)

Enjoyed my stay! Great amenities for price. Enjoyed the free meals. Friendly staff. Met nice travelers. Easy internet access. Walking tours leave right from lobby. In walking distance to train station, restaurants, shopping, and tourist sites. — Anonymous , US (2011-04-25)

loved this hostel!!! staff is friendly, met some cool people here. good to have in room bathrooms here. it rained the whole time i was in florence, so it was nice and cool, but i'm not sure how the room would have been otherwise -- not sure if there was AC. the area was nice, far enough from the tourist center but still close enough to walk around and come back a couple times during the day. the walls are interesting, if you go you will know what i mean. — Anna , United States (2010-07-06)

Awesome! This was by far my favourite hostel in Italy! First off, the rooms were really nice, with your own sink, huge lockers, and a computer with internet access. The washrooms were also really clean, and there were enough of them that you never had to wait more than five minutes to take a shower, no matter the time of day. The hostel is perfectly located like a five-minute walk from the train station too. If you're going to stay here you definitely have to do one, if not both, of the free walking tours. our guide was excellent, and you got to see a whole bunch of sites that you might have missed while walking around yourself. One top of all this, you get free breakfast and dinner! Which you get to pick off a menu with about eight different meal choices each time! It was amazing! Plus, there was a little garden and eating area outside which gave you the chance to meet a bunch of really cool people! Because of this hostel, Florence was one of my favourite stops on my trip! Ostello Archi Rossi is the place to stay in Florence! — Jules , Canada (2009-06-10)

Great! Clean, friendly, nicely located (Florence is small anyway). The hostel is pretty social, but not too wild. The staff controls the noise in the courtyard at night to ensure the guests are not disturbed. I will go there the next time I am in Florence. — LP , Canadian (2009-05-23)

Would come back again and again! This is absolutely the most amazing hostel ever! First, it is no longer than a five-minute walk from the train station and was so easy to find. The staff were wonderful -- super nice and very accommodating. Rooms -- Amazing! Ours was very big and spacious with three bunk beds in it. The linens were all clean and wrapped in plastic -- we had to make our own beds but I didn't mind because then I knew the sheets were clean. we each had our own locker that were bigger than full school locker -- no doubt I could fit in it. You need to bring your own lock though obviously. There were even hangers in the locker. Each room had their own sink (so we didn't have to go to the washrooms to brush our teeth) and we also had our own computer. They had computer access but I couldn't figure out how to use it. Each bed also had their own light so you were disturbing other roommates. Washrooms -- Very clean. There were two on our floor and rarely had to wait in line. Internet -- There were easily ten computers down in the lobby with fast internet access. There was never a line up and it was unlimited use. Breakfast -- amazing! you had a menu to order from and could get anything from cereal and croissants to french toast and eggs! and it was all free. Absolutely incredible. Walking tours -- Do these free offered tours! There are two different tours alternating each day, we went on both. The guides were very knowledgeable and they really helped up to see all the parts of the city. Then we felt comfortable to venture out and find things on our own afterward to go back to the sites we liked. You could also leave the tour at any time so you didn't have to feel like you were locked in for two hours. In the end, I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone and everyone! Just to give an idea of how popular it is, it was completely booked up when we were there in May and they were turning people away at the door (the hostel is very big too). It is close to everything and the staff were very helpful in recommending restaurants or places to go. It was by far the best hostel I have stayed at. We met so many people. It was mostly a younger crowd but I would recommend it to any age group. Definitely stay here if you go to Florence! — Mandy , Canada (2008-12-17)

Fantastic minus the breakfast the french toast here sucks. but other than that this place is amazing. i would recommend it to everyone and their neighbor. its super convenient having a computer in each room, along with a heater and a shower. this hostel is very professional looking, but its still charming. oh, and its pretty easy to find. — Lizzy Henry , USA (2008-11-15)

Simply Excellent These guys are Pro! Very clean, well located, and excellent structure and breakfast. I recommend! — Renato , Brazil (2008-10-05)

What a good place Wow. What a place. I never thought I will find a hostel like that in Italy, and there is was. Clean, not to big or impersonal, great breakfast (they even have egg dishes) for free, nice dorms with bathroom, free internet downstairs and in the room (Wi-Fi), nice garden, super friendly staff, good prices for food and drink, cheap and very tasty homemade style dinners, free Florence walking tours. Right on, the Archi Rossi in Florence is a hostel worth talking about on many continents. Six stars, oops, only five possible here. — opb.travel (2008-04-23)

Pretty nice this is a pretty big and nice hostel. the staff is really friendly and helpful, there's about six computers with internet but there's usually a wait to use them. however there is a pretty cheap internet cafe right across the street. the walls are all covered with graffiti and art from various guests which gives it a really cool vibe, and the rooms themselves are pretty big with decently sized locking wardrobes. it also has a complimentary breakfast that was pretty good. the downsides to this hostel are its 2 a.m. curfew (we actually ended up getting back one night at about 5:30 and had to wait for the hostel to open up in the morning to get back in), there's only two or so bathrooms per floor so there was sometimes a wait to shower, and about two days after we arrived, my self and two of my friends ended up getting a rash that slowly spread over our body. it was too bad, and i can't be certain what caused it (i don't think it was anything in the room since my other friend and our roommates didn't get a rash). i think it was the soap we were given at the front desk, since my friend that didn't get the rash was the only one that didn't wash his clothes while we were there. i'd recommend this hostel to most people, but maybe not to the more wild people out there that plan on staying out late and making lots of noise when they come in. — natalie , USA (2008-04-21)

Great place I really liked this hostel. Everything was clean, the internet was free, location was great (and hostel was easy to find), and the breakfast was probably the best I had at any of the hostels I stayed at on my trip. The place has a neat atmosphere as well. There's a nice outdoor terrace and the hallways have graffiti written all over them, which is kind of neat. I would definitely stay here again. Lockers in the room. Free internet. Free breakfast. — Garrett , USA (2007-07-03)

Good hostel Great hot breakfast available. Free internet limited to thirty minutes a day, but decent. Interesting frescoes/paintings/graffiti everywhere. Cheap drinks and snacks at the reception. Big lockers in the room for each bed. Pretty close to train station. Pretty nice staff. Pretty good place overall. — jacki , usa (2007-07-02)

Clean, friendly, and excellent location This is a great hostel, clean facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and is close to the train station as well as being within walking distance to the main attractions. — Reuben , New Zealand (2007-06-07)

Very clean This place was clean, and in a decent location not very far from the train station. It is a fairly social place, although it does not have a bar. The breakfast is huge also, which is nice. The only problem was the staff was rude and "reservations" don't seem to mean much there. — Susan , USA (2007-05-29)
