Hostelz.com's Review
Hostal Olga really does feel like a home away from home. Olga and Rafa are happy to help you with anything you need.

The Location

Hostel Olga, or Olga's Place, is located about fifty meters from the beach in downtown San Sebastián. It is on the second floor of the building, so when you arrive at the door number 38, you will need to look for the buzzers on the left hand side and look for the buzzer that has a tiny flag next to it that says "Olga." If you press the button, Olga or her friendly husband Rafa will come and let you in downstairs. The hostel is round the corner from a supermarket, over the road from a coffee shop and you will find anything that you need close by to this location. Olga will be able to help you find the things that you need during your stay too.

While it is a half-hour walk from the main bus station to get to other surrounding cities, there is a local bus stop close by that you can take the number 10 bus from to get to and from this bus station for a small cost.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms here are cozy, four-bed dorm rooms in a house-type setting. Each of the rooms has a small safe to lock your valuables in with your own select code. Given that it is a really small hostel -- as it is Olga's house and that somebody is usually always around and there are not too many guests -- your belongings feel quite safe here.

There are two bathrooms each equipped with toilet and shower that you can use and they are well cleaned and spacious.

Common Spaces

The two main common spaces here at Olga's Place are the living room (with couches and a television where you can watch regular Spanish TV on or a DVD) or the kitchen. The kitchen has a dining room table and heaps of space to cook around the benchtops. Olga and Rafa cook in here too, so it is super well equipped with anything you might want to cook up a glorious feast.

Summary

Olga and Rafa speak Spanish and English and Olga speaks Russian, which helps with international guests, and they will direct you to anywhere you want or need to go in San Sebastian.

5   Fantastic! Hostal Olga was the best hostel i stayed in over my three-week trip. Although not cheap, at 30 euros a night, it was well worth it! Drinks on the terrace every night meant we met so many other travelers and had an awesome time! The beach was a minute away, and I was there for the jazz fest, meaning beach parties till 4 a.m. each night! The place was clean and friendly. Olga was lovely, and always willing to help! The internet access was free, as were boogie boards and wetsuits for the day, and there were big, clean kitchens! Everyone there was up for a laugh -- you will have a great time at this place!  , Scotland ()
