The Hostelz.com Review
Euro Hostel is a huge (lift-accessible) hostel, with seven floors of rooms. One enormous common room serves as the TV/games lounge and eating area, but smoking is allowed here so it smells of smoke. Though most guests are gone during the day, this area perks up around dinner and is a good place to meet people. Given the size of the hostel, the guest kitchen is tiny and not cleaned often enough, closes at 10 pm, but is well stocked with utensils and appliances if you can find room to cook (grocery store right around the corner). The lounge is also where a decent complimentary breakfast is served, and smoking is banned during these hours. A smaller, second floor TV room is smoke free all day, but less social.

The hostel will hold your bags for free in a locked room if you arrive early or depart late. There is expensive Internet access at reception, but a cheaper cafe nearby. Laundry facilities are available. The popular Bar Osmosis on the ground floor is great for meeting other travelers, but the hostel is only accessible by keycard after 11 pm, so go elsewhere to meet real Glaswegians. The hostel is right on the fringe of downtown Glasgow, and close to shops, museums, monuments, restaurants, and transportation.

The single-sex rooms (of all sizes) are clean, comfortable, spacious, quiet at night, and only accessible by keycard, and include lockers, toilets, showers, and sinks. There is a mix of solo travelers and groups, but not many people stay for long periods. People of all ages and backgrounds pass through, and there is no dominant group of young backpackers like at some hostels. The hostel feels impersonal due to its large size, almost like a hotel, and large groups keep to themselves, but there are still plenty of travelers to meet if you make the effort. With close access to transportation, the hostel is a great launching point to outlying areas of Glasgow and greater Scotland.

Update: We are told the common room is now non-smoking. Yay!

Directions

From Central Station: Take the Union Street exit (by platform 1), turn right and walk down Union Street. This becomes Jamaica Street. Just before the bridge, turn left onto Clyde Street and the hostel is on the corner.

From Glasgow International Airport: Follow signs for "Exit and Buses". Take CityLink Service 905 from Stance 1 (use your student ID!), get off at "Central Station". You will be on Bothwell Street near Hope Street. Turn right on Hope Street, make a quick left onto Gordon Street, and then the first right onto Union Street. This becomes Jamaica Street. Just before the bridge, turn left onto Clyde Street and the hostel is on the corner.

From Buchanan Bus Station: Exit the main terminal "way out" and head to the left toward the big glass building (UCG cinema). You will be on Killermont/Renfrew Street. Take the second left onto Renfield Street. Continue past the train station, where it becomes Jamaica Street. Just before the bridge, turn left onto Clyde Street and the hostel is on the corner.

Comfy, but not social
I stayed in a double, which was very comfortable. Our bathroom was clean and we were given clean towels every day. However, the common areas are lacking in atmosphere and there was no socialization. The bar was a bit expensive, but so is everything else in the U.K. The staff were not the friendliest people, but we didn't interact with them much anyhow. The breakfast was pretty good -- I really enjoyed their large coffee machine in the morning. You could get several different variations of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. All in all, I would definitely stay here again. The location was good, as was my room.

This hostel is big. I stayed in a sixteen-bed female dorm. Not too bad, fairly clean, and good amount of room. The two guys I encountered working the front desk were very helpful, my jacket was misplaced and when I asked for help they were actually concerned and helped to locate it. Besides that, this is an average hostel, not too noisy, pretty clean.

This hostel was decent enough. My friend amd I stayed here in-transit, so we weren't looking for much -- just a place for the night. We stayed in a private room, which had a TV (one GBP for five hours) and towel service. The beds were okay, but the shower was pretty excellent, I must say! The staff were helpful, too.Its super close to Central Station, but a bit of a walk from Queen Street Station (not tooo bad), so be prepared for that. It is kinda noisy from all the street traffic, but whattayado.

By far the best hostel I visited in the UK. I also met some amazing people who roomed with me, and it was so nice to have CHOICES at breakfasttime! (even though the hours were a bit early). The staff was OK, not great, but whatever. It was in a great location and I really enjoyed my stay overall :)

Big anonymous hostel and the staff are not very friendly. I had a four-bed dorm with a shower/toilet. The price was ok for Scotland. The room was quiet and clean enough. Breakfast was good. The area is ok, all the clubs are nearby. Too many noisy groups in the hostel, though.

This place is clean, expensive, and so, so loud — the traffic outside is unbearable. It has a good breakfast, and a good location.

I quite enjoyed staying at this hostel. This was the most convenient and cleanest hostel I have ever stayed at in Scotland. But the staff were not so friendly. They seemed bored, and tried to answer our questions as shortly as they could!!

The location is good, but the staff are unfriendly (actually, I think they are bored) and the long-term rates are poor. The common areas are unattractive, and, because hanging out with fellow travellers is part of the game, this place is not good enough as a backpackers' retreat. There's no atmosphere whatsoever.

This hostel was a great place to stay. The rooms were roomy and the staff were really friendly. The Osmosis Bar was a nice surprise, and the hostel was close to Central station. Breakfast was awesome.

The best hostel I have stayed in so far. Nothing is wrong with it! It's really clean, it has an en suite bathroom, the place smells good, it's modern, and the staff will help you. They're not super friendly, but that's okay because the hostel is awesome!

I have been staying at this hostel for the past few days. As mentioned, the price is okay. The breakfast is good though, better than the ones I've had. There's cereal, toast & jam, coffee/tea, and juice, and you can take as much as you like. It ends rather early though (starts 7.30am, ends 9.30am). The dorms are clean, and there are lockers provided. Staff are quite friendly, to me at least. Good location too. 5 mins from Buchanan street (shopping) and just behind is a supermarket and subway station.

Location is good. The price is ok (currently double room costs just 50p more than dormitory). But the staff were unfriendly.

I stayed in this hostel for five days and found it to be enjoyable. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for you. I would recommend it to anyone if you're looking for a place to stay in Glasgow.
