The Hostelz.com Review
Triana Backpackers is a classy but cozy hostel that seems to attract a lot of life, although it sits on the other side of the river away from Seville's center. It's an entertaining place to stay, with a lot of character and a few neat secrets.

The Location

The hostel is about a twenty-minute walk from the main attractions in Seville, including the Cathedral and the Alcazar. It's located on the western side of the river, while the center of Seville is found on the eastern side. It may not be in the center of the city, but the location is still convenient with a lot of bars, clubs, and restaurants in the neighboring blocks.

Coming from the El Prado bus station or the Airport bus (same bus stop), it's about a twenty-minute walk. Walk down Calle San Fernando. Once you reach the intersection of several more streets, turn left towards the river. Cross over the San Telmo bridge and turn an immediate right on the other side, onto Calle Betis. Walk two blocks, then turn left on Calle de Troya. Then take your third right onto Calle de Rodrigo de Triana. Look for #69 on your right (second block). It's not the easiest hostel to find, but once you do find it, you'll be sure to like the surrounding neighborhood.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Triana Backpackers offers all-female and co-ed dorm rooms of six beds each, and one co-ed dorm room of eight beds. The dorms are spread out over three stories, but each room is equipped with an adjustable air-conditioning unit (very useful during Seville's extremely hot summers). The bathrooms are located in the hallways, and one bathroom is normally shared between two rooms, although you have the liberty of using any bathroom at any time. The bathrooms are relatively spacious, each equipped with a shower, sink, toilet, and mirror.

Common Spaces

The common spaces are spread throughout the hostel. The ground floor has a seating area right past the front desk. On the second floor you can find the kitchen, dining area, computer stations, and lounge, all with access to balcony windows. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining/lounge area evokes a sense of livelihood. You'll often find a number of guests relaxing, chatting, playing board games, or listening to music in this area. Also, the hostel serves free breakfast every morning, consisting of coffee/tea with cereal, milk, toast, Nutella, and jam. The last common space is located on the roof. It's a rooftop hangout with a few couches, a couple of hammocks, and a nice hot tub to top it off.

Summary

Triana Backpackers is a place you don't want to miss if you're in search of a time well spent in Seville. You'll always be sure to find some sort of action going on in the hostel throughout the day. It's the perfect place to meet international friends and just hang out. And the rooms do a pretty good job of keeping out the noise, in case you were wondering.

5  Excellent This hostel was hands down one of, if not the, nicest hostels I stayed in during a nine-week backpacking trip. Although it is located on the opposite side of the river from most of the attractions and landmarks, they are all within easy walking distance. The comfortable beds, small rooms, overall cleanliness, free internet, and friendly staff made this a great choice if you need a hostel in Sevilla. I wish I were back there daily!  , USA ()
5  A beautiful hostel just across the river, full of tiles and open spaces. It's clean and friendly with free Wi-Fi and computer access and a well stocked kitchen. There is also a lounge and a rooftop terrace which is being redone this year. An excellent hostel!  , Canadian ()
5  This was by far the best hostel we stayed in during our two months backpacking around Europe. They live up to everything they claim, free breakfast (including yummy little muffins), free internet, a big tv room fully stocked with English and Spanish DVDs, a great kitchen, clean bathrooms with ample hot water. You only shared your bathroom with one other room, and the rooms are for two people each, so that's one bathroom for only four people. The staff/owners were lovely, they went out of their way to help you in any way possible, and were happy to chat with the guests. There was a communal lounge/dining/internet area where all the guests hung out, so everyone got to share travel stories and arrange to go out for tapas and flamenco nights. The roof terrace was lovely (but very hot in the day in summer!), with tables and chairs, and also clothes lines if you do your own washing. The ambience, design, and layout of this hostel was wonderful, very cool and breezy for hot summers days. Highly recommended.  ()
