The Hostelz.com Review
Fabric Hostel & Club is a brand new hostel that has just opened in a town just outside of Naples. It is one of those hostels that is so brilliant at times but then so constrained due to other factors.

Obviously as it is a new hostel is strives for character and cleanliness. You definitely don't feel as though you are scrumming it when you walk into the pristine clean huge rooms. Even when you stay in a twelve-bedroom dorm, you feel like it's a six-bedroom, as the rooms get divided into half with many people sleeping in the loft-style upstairs area. The rooms get cleaned daily and all the furnishings are very modern and new. You also receive your own locker and plenty of space to spread out your belongings.

The shower area is also extremely clean although the layout is not ideal. In the women's showers, the doors are see-through and there is not only nowhere to hang your clothes in the shower, but the only place to put your towel and belongings is nowhere near the shower -- right next to the door. And as typical with many hostels you are lucky to receive a hot shower.

As far as facilities, you couldn't ask for a better hostel. There is a huge common area with a giant plasma and cable, a large bar area and lots of fun couches. There is also a miniature pool outside and lots of tables. The bar area is huge and they attempt to make it into a disco -- although they really need to pack out the entire hostel for this to work out. The place also seems to be striving to have a lot of character -- you can tell this by the funky furniture and warm personalities of the staff members. In terms of staff you couldn't ask for a nicer group of people. Once again because they are new, they will cater to your every need and have lots of helpful advice for making day trips out of Porcini.

Location is a major problem. Because you are in a quiet area there really is no way of going out at night, so everyone tends to be stuck in the hostel. It can also feel quite unsafe walking the streets by yourself. However it is only a ten-minute walk to the train station that can then directly take you to Sorrento, Naples, and Pompeii, which is ideal. It is also much safer than we imagine Naples to be. Overall it's a fantastic hostel and we definitely recommend going here if you intend to do some day trips at the Bay of Naples.

4  So much fun I really enjoyed my stay here, my room was mixed dorm and had 2 levels (i was on the top level and unfortunately non of the fans up stairs worked). The people we met there were so great, and the staff are a lot of fun. The hostel is in kind of a scuzzy area, there is a little shop next door for groceries and every morning there's some sort of a market with funky fish and all sorts of stuff. The hostel itself is very nice and really well kept. If you know how to get to and from the train station then your trip stay there will be great -- you can go back and forth all day, centrally located, its great!! they serve cheap food at the restaurant and its good. If I come back to Italy I'll come back here, so cheap and so easy to get to sorrento, pompei, naples!  , Canada ()
2  Bed Bugs, Not Great When I first looked round the hostel, it seemed great, they have fantastic facilities and the rooms seemed really clean. we stopped in a private room, bathroom was immaculate. however, when i woke the next morning i was covered head to toe in bedbug bites. the staff moved us to another room and tried to say that we had brought them into the room,.my backpack hasn't been used for two years and i've never had any problems before. however they insisted on washing all our clothes and baggage, advising that they would have us moved and sorted by the time we returned that evening. When we returned, fairly tired and dirty after visiting Pompeii all day, all our clothes were still wet -- when they finally returned them to us (Still damp), they gave us an iron to try and dry them out. some of the clothes were soaking and even a red hot iron couldn't dry them out. and just to top it off, the room they moved us to was literally crawling with bedbugs! I wouldn't use this hostel again, and i wouldn't recommend anyone else did either.  , British ()
5  Naples is a dive, but this hostel was so good I extended my stay from four to six days. It's clean, modern, and safe, with excellent security lockers too. The communal spaces are massive and it's the best place to go if you want to meet people. It's a good base for Pompei. There is a proper enormous TV and DVD player, and comfy bean bags. the downstairs is split between a large communal room where you can take your own drinks, and a commercial bar with cheap food options. Probably the best hostel I've ever stayed in, after all it is brand new and the guys who run it are all ex-travelers. Shame Naples is horrible!  ()
5  this is the best hostel I've ever been. very very very clean, really nice rooms, bathrooms and common room, plasma tvs, free internet, a nice swimmingpool outside, and a great club/restaurant, where you can have dinner for a reasonable price or have a shot in the night. it's fifteen minutes walk to herculano and fifteen minutes metro to naples centre and pompei. but I have to say that the most remarkable thing was how nice and helpful the staff were. I recommend to everyone who goes to naples to choose this great hostel, it's just unique!!!  ()
