Great hosts! This hostel was great, and they had free airport pickup. Amir, Ahmed, and everyone else on staff are fun and friendly people who will gladly help with your Arabic, finding things in the city, and setting up the rest of your travels. Highly recommended! — Jenn , United States (2008-02-05)

The best hostel in cairo Excellent hostel -- no complaints at all, would gladly stay there again. Staff were friendly and helpful and the location is right in the city centre, about five minutes walk from Saddat metro station. — john , usa (2007-11-28)

My home in Egypt I have been in Egypt for almost a month, and every time I come back to Cairo, I stay at this hostel and probably wouldn't think about staying anywhere else. The accommodation is reasonable for the price, but what makes this place is the central location -- close to the Museum and a metro station -- and the fact that all the guys here are among the friendliest you will find in all of Egypt! They have been so helpful, whether it be in organising trips outside of Cairo, or just clueing you in to how much things cost at the local stand (believe me, this is priceless advice!). They have made us feel so comfortable and at home that I would not hesitate to use this hostel if I find myself back in Cairo in the future. — Semsem , Australian (2007-11-27)

Excellent hostel really nice hostel. especially nice and helpful staff -- thanks for the free arabic lessons! — rather , germany (2007-08-30)
Due to arriving early in the morning, they missed their pickup. they can't seem to understand that 2:40 in the morning is actually the next day, not the previous day. Bathroom was ok, beds uncomfortable and hot in summer. Elevator only worked once during our stay (thankfully it was on the way up). — Conrad (2007-03-22)

what can i say, they are really amazing people. they been helping me a lot to organize every thing in Egypt. if you want to ask anything, ask Amir -- he is the man. you don't have to worry about anything and he is there. — Andreas (2007-01-28)

After staying at close to fifty hostels in six months, this is the first time I feel compelled to post comments. This was a decent hostel, a short walk from both the Sadat metro station, and the Egyptian museum. The staff, Amir and Ahmed, are helpful (unlike all other Egyptians you'll most likely come across as a tourist, who by the way shouldn't be trusted). Cairo and Egypt in general, are crawling with clever Egyptians who've had years of practice in talking tourists into parting with their money. Also, it is difficult to get proper information (even a good map), which would help you in the dos and don'ts, as well as in how to best spend your time. So be sure to get a guidebook and read it before getting to Egypt. It's a good idea to have an idea of how much things should cost, otherwise you'll be asked to pay up to ten times the price. Beware of tour guides, because after you start trusting them, they'll take you to specialty shops and "factories" which somehow end up on the tour agenda. Ask Amir and Ahmed for a list/briefing of the latest scams that Egyptians employ on tourists. The better prepared you are, the more pleasant (tolerable) your trip will be. — A- (2006-12-30)

This is a nice place with simple facilities but the staff are amazing. Amir gave up some fantastic advice, helping to improve our holiday in Egypt (not just Cairo) by 100%. Everyone is very friendly, they don't push tours down your throat, and the common room is a great place to hang out with other guests and the staff. I would highly recommend this place as a excellent place to stay in Cairo for budget travelers. — Lyndon and Donna (2006-11-23)

very friendly people, daily cleaness and just one minute walking distance from Egyptian museum. — garth (2006-09-04)

excellent hostel, does everything it advertises. very clean, great location, especially if you're here to see the sights. very friendly staff who made us feel really welcome and comfortable and helped us with anything we needed, and spoke very good english. — fiona (2006-07-30)

Even though we were only here for 4 days, the guys at desert safari helped our trip be so exciting and memorable -- this is a really great place to stay, lovely people, and the staff are amazingly helpful! They have all the contacts and can organise anything you want to do, they set us up with a full day of camel and horse riding around the pyramids, and we watched the sunset over the pyramids -- amazing! The rooms were really clean and very comfortable, I couldn't recommend this place more for a trip on a budget -- full marks!! — vicki Stavrou (2006-07-21)

the guys at the hostel -- they take great care of me and they was very helpful in explaining everything for me and giving me all the information i need. the hostel was spotless clean and just next to Egyptian museum. highly recommended. — sundhar shunmugam (2006-07-20)

Fantastic hostel right in the center of downtown Cairo. Everything is available at your fingertips via the front reception -- nile cruises, pyramid tours, and walking tours. The staff is very helpful, especially Amir. No need to worry about safety -- we are three young americans and didn't even flinch about the safety. Have fun and stay at this highly recommended hostel! — michael Hitch (2006-07-16)

Excellent! My experience here was awesome and I met very cool people. The staff were great and very helpful. Awesome location around downtown and directly across the road from the Egyptian Museum. — Caitlin Williams (2006-06-15)
