The Hostelz.com Review
Hostel La Poarroquia is a brand new hostel, but as a result is quite sterile also. Breakfast is great (bread, juice, coffee, fruit) and is served in the restaurant attached (at street level). Because the owners have several restaurants in town, you get a discount of 10%-15% at them all.
They have fast internet available that is competitively priced for the area, and in the common room there is ping pong, movies, video games, etc. The staff is welcoming and available 24 hours a day; in addition they are flexible with the rules and willing to accommodate your needs. Bathrooms are large, spotless, and are stocked with toilet paper and soap. Showers are hot and have good pressure.
At the time of this review, there was no kitchen, only free drinking water and a microwave, however they are remodeling to make one available.
The beds are comfortable, but the private rooms seemed to be quite hot. The dorms are well ventilated and cool. There is a nice patio with hammocks where you can lounge in the sun. The location is great, just a few steps from everything. To get to the hostel go to the main square and look around, it's bright yellow and is next to the Cathedral.

Clean and Cool In the dorm rooms fans are given to all bottom bunks, top bunkers beware it is hot! I slept fine, but my fellow traveler who slept on the top bunk was miserably hot. This place fills up, the 10 bed or so dorm was completely filled. Backpack sized lockers are available, there is internet, and a courtyard to relax in. The staff are friendly, but some speak little to no English and we had a problem with exchanging money. Do not exchange money there -- go to a Cambio (Exchange house). It is close to the main square and there is a restaurant next door owned by the hotel (although I didn't think it was very good). Free breakfast of fruit and bread at that restaurant. — Anom , USA (2008-07-10)
