Description

The Guilleumes Hostel is a friendly accomodation at the base of the Montserrat mountain. At only 50 min from Barcelona. It is ideal to visit the basilica of Montserrat, for climbing the amazing walls in this area, for hiking on the different trails, relax, visit the narrow streets of Monistrols, etc.

Everyone visiting Barcelona should take at least a day to visit Montserrat. Our hostel is in easy access from Barcelona with the train, bus and car. And it is at only 15 minutes from the basilica of Montserrat. Also we are in the town were the famous "cremallera the Montserrat" (the rack railway) starts its journey through the original railway through the mountain.

The hostal Guilleumes was open three years ago, and we are having a great time with our guest from all over the world. We like to take care of the needs of our guest and that's why we provide information on how to get the most from the area, like trail maps, claimbing routes, visiting information...

We also have a bar and restaurant where you can have breakfasts, lunch, dinner or simply have an expresso or a beer in a confortable environment. We have a variety of home made dishes every day.

This is a very clean and polished hostel, though it felt more like a small hotel -- it was really nice! We seemed to be the only two people staying there, which was...interesting. We arrived late and the hostel was all locked up with nobody there, which was odd; luckily, I happened to meet some people who called the owner for me and we got in. No one speaks English here, so come prepared to speak Spanish! Internet access is free for the first 15 minutes, and it's down in the restaurant that is run by the hostel. Monistrol de Montserrat is extremely hard to navigate so I suggest you get someone to show you the way -- we happened to meet an extremely friendly girl who led us there and she spoke a little English. What a blessing! So an interesting experience overall and a really cool little town and a nice hostel.
