Just loved it So new, so nice, so clean! I was really really impressed with this hostel, it was awesome having our own bathroom! And just five minutes from town. This is definitely recommended.

Cleanest and most comfortable As we traveled across Australia and New Zealand, this hostel stood out as a real gem. A short walk from most things, it happened to be not crowded the days we were there and had a huge room to ourselves. The kitchen was really good as well with lots of storage space. They also picked us up from the airport which was really helpful. Also the bus to the Tongariro Crossing picks up from this location. The staff was friendly.

Very nice and clean. We stayed in a private en-suite room rather than the backpacker accommodation and it was great. Definitely more of a motel feel rather than a hostel, but that was fine by us. The kitchen was a good size and clean, but full of flying bugs when we stayed, as all the windows were left open. We found the staff to be really friendly and helpful.

More of a motel than a backpackers. Very clean, not the place to stay if you're looking to meet people but is excellent budget accommodation.

This place deserves a 5 star rating, however something holds me back. The place itself is great - extremely new, clean facilities, HUGE rooms, plenty of everything. Even the dishes get 'sanitised' after they are cleaned. The hosts, however, are not the chattiest or the friendliest in the world. I shouldn't put such a large emphasis on service, but I just didn't feel wanted there.

My boyfriend and I have been travelling around NZ and Australia for three months and still agree that the Silver Fern Lodge was the best accommodation for backpackers we've seen!
