Awesome
I visited Jade in October of 2008 with a team of fourteen women. It was the perfect place for us to stay. Very convenient -- perfect walking area. They had our reservation a bit jacked, we were supposed to be all together, and they had other people with our group, but the staff made accommodations for it all. I would definitely go there again. Make sure you take a walk through the Hutong district! Wonderful food!

Clean and great hostel
I've been there for four days in July 2007 to see the city of Beijing. The hostel was very great! Our room was clean and big. Unfortunately the wardrobe was very small, for my circumstances too small. We also had a TV. The washing rooms have been totally clean -- the showers and the toilets. Perfect Hostel if you only want to stay at night and if you want to meet so many other people from so many other countries.

Very good place to go. Staff friendly and available, rooms clean, spacious and nice, hostel cheap, not noisy, and well located. Definitely a good hostel.

Good hostel, clean, good and warm showers, breakfast for 25 rmb, super location, two to three streets away from Forbidden city on walking distance, also shopping area is on walking distance. Also the travel service is very good and cheap -- 250 rmb for a whole day of the most oldest and difficult parts of the Great Wall plus transport. Next time I am definitely going back to this hostel.

It's really a great hostel! Important notice: If you want to take a taxi from the airport, make sure that you have a map with you so you can show the taxi driver where you want to go because a lot of drivers don't know this place! And don't pay more than seventy-five Yuan!

This is the nicest hostel I have stayed in -- anywhere -- ever -- period. I had no problem recommending this place over any number of hotels. I would stay here -- even alone -- without question. Choose a dorm room and hope for some cool roommates. If, on the other hand, you are traveling with anyone else -- you cannot even remotely hope to do better than this place. Immaculately clean, beautiful rooms, great food service, gorgeous lobby and meeting rooms, and all the bathroom grooming supplies you might expect at the Hilton. It literally looks like they spent millions on this place. Did I mention that you can walk to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square? You can see the wall enclosing the forbidden city just out the window. The path is through an ancient hutong that has probably been there since the Forbidden City was built. On the downside, it's a little hard to find. Definitely take advantage of their offer on the airport pickup. Even the cab drivers can't usually find it. You need to get a nearby address on the main road and give that to the drivers.

Good and clean rooms. No atmosphere at all. Looks like a hotel. No common room, and not a single chance to get to know anyone besides your room mates. Don't spend your time.

This was the best hostel I stayed in while I was travelling in China by far. Compared to some others it was definitely more comfortable, the rooms didn't smell like hospital wards but they were still immaculately clean. Also, the showers were amazing — power showers! It's in a perfect location for strolling down to Tiananmen Square at the end of the day to watch the lowering of the flag, or to walk onto wangfujing dajie for some shopping. The staff were extremely friendly and always ready to help; if you can't speak Chinese that's no problem, their English is quite sufficient. A taxi from Beijing Zhan should cost around 20 yuan.

We stayed at this hostel for two weeks at the end of December 2004. It is newly built/renovated with brand-new furniture and equipment. I would say it is more like a small hotel than a hostel. We had a lovely double room with a bathroom for less than 18 US dollars a day (for two persons). We visited two other hostels before we found this one and I have to say Jade beats both of them. It is close to Wangfujing Street (subway station), and it is in the heart of the city, very close to the Forbidden City. If you take bus 103 from the hostel to the zoo, you'll find a good and cheap shopping area, too (40 minutes away). When you arrive in Beijing, take the shuttle bus to the Xidan Aviation Building from the airport. When you get off the bus, try to avoid the taxi drivers lurking by and walk a few minutes in any direction along the main street. There grab a taxi, and it will take you to the Jade for about 12 yuans, which is about 2 US dollars. (Do not forget to print out the map you see on this page since the taxi drivers speak Chinese only). Have a lovely time!
