Pretty good The locations is good, not far from downtown Seattle, but near the sea and beach and quirky downtown Ballard. The breakfasts were great, but too bad I picked up lice here! Unfortunately clean linens isn't enough. Hostels need to vacuum the mattresses or have them professionally cleaned.

Very nice! Great free breakfast in the morning, nice location near Pike Place Market. Clean bathrooms, and safe location and entry. Stay here when in Seattle!

This was the first of several hostels I stayed at on a recent trip around the country. I wish I had saved it for last though, because all other hostels were a disappointment in comparison! The location was excellent. Bathrooms were clean. Bedrooms were spotless. An amazing free breakfast -- plus free bread, coffee, tea, and cocoa throughout the day. Huge, super clean kitchen and great common areas where I met some incredible people. Free pool table! A mostly friendly staff that were very helpful with suggestions and directions. Lots of social activities. My only complaint was parking, but this is Seattle!

My first ever stay at a HI Hostel and I was spoilt! This place was fantastic from the word go with the staff being very friendly and helpful, the facilities and services being "Top Notch" (I loved that breakfast) and even the other guests were excellent. I particularly enjoyed the proximity to the city, the Pike Place Markets and the aquarium. enough to keep me occupied for a couple of days prior to the tour that I was to commence from this very hostel. Even if you don't go out, the library and TV lounge add to the comfort.

I stayed here Aug 2006, two nights at the beginning of my trip, and then another night at the end. The hostel itself is great -- clean and safe. The location can't be beat -- it's right at Pike Place, but the area is a little shady at night. The staff was also very nice, except for one that I had spoken with on the phone. My reservation got cancelled without my consent/knowledge and when I had called, the girl on the phone was very rude. I didn't get her name. Other than that, my experience at the hostel was very positive. The breakfast is the best I've had at any hostel -- bagels, muffins, fruits, yogurt, cereal, and even soy milk. The lounge area is also very spacious and laid out well with a view of the water. I would definitely stay here again. it's a great value. And it was very easy to get to by bus from SEATAC -- catch the 194 Express for $1.25 and it takes you to just about two to three blocks from the hostel.

This is just perfect. No other hostels in the world cannot beat this hostel. Price is a little bit (but just tiny little bit) higher than others however value is much greater than others. At this hostel, don't forget to have their decent free breakfast. I am really amazed by their high quility. It's a way better than staying in a mid-class motel.

Stayed here for four nights, August 2005. This hostel is of an amazingly high standard. The rooms are very spacious, huge bunks and massive lockers, not a single speck of dirt in sight. It is more like a four-star hotel for backpackers than a hostel. Definitely recommended. The only slight downside (maybe we were just a bit unlucky) was that because the hostel is of such a high standard, that people who would normally staying in hotels were staying there which meant we didn't meet many young backpackers up for a laugh.

I was highly impressed in all respects with my two-night stay here. Best complimentary breakfast in a hostel.

First hostel I've ever stayed in. It was surprisingly large, clean, and had a giant, fully stocked (spices!) kitchen. I skipped breakfast everyday but the local produce market and numerous ethnic shops are right upstairs. Old folks abound and Seattle's full of junkies, but the one naked psycho I stumbled upon was summarily ejected and beaten. ;) I'm a slight neat freak and had no problems in kitchen, bath, or quarters. And there's free coffee all day/night. It was cleaner, safer, and friendlier than staying with friends.

Like Laurie I visited HI Seattle as a first-time hosteler (in the fall of 2003) and was most impressed. It's an older building but you'd never guess it from the facilities, which are very clean and inviting and have tons of personality! Great location — literally right down the alley from Pike Place Market, easy access to buses and Amtrak, although the city's quite walkable. The people are wonderful, there's a great free breakfast and there are plenty of activities/tours. Or, if you feel like taking a break, there's a Seattle-themed movie playing in the TV room every night. Great hostel, wonderful city — I look forward to returning!

This was easily one of the best hostels in the US. It was spotlessly clean and equipped with everything. It's very close to everything in the city and it has a friendly staff. I would gladly stay here anytime.

This is an excellent hostel for users of public transportation. It's close to Amtrak (the train), the bus station, and the ferry terminal. The Seattle area has good transit, including connections to other publicly operated systems, both to the north and south of Seattle.

Fantastic hostel with an equally great breakfast organized by Robare. It's in an outstanding location in downtown Seattle, near all the sights. It's easy to get to from the bus, train and by shuttle/taxi from the airport. The hostel is in an older building, but it's been nicely updated. It's the only place to stay in Seattle!

I don't often give a five star rating, but what else can you do for this wonderful place. It has everything... location, facilities, security, extremely helpful and friendly staff, it is clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are plentiful. The nightly movies are good. The kitchen is fantastic. The dining area has enough space for a crowd and the free breakfast is to be experienced to be believed. All in all, this is a great place. I was here in 2001 - three visits - and will be back again in September. Highly recommended for all from 2 to 92!
