The hostel is fantastic, probably one of the best I stayed in during my semester traveling Europe. After a day in Heidelberg, we booked a night at Schloss Ortenberg on a whim. To our surprise/delight, the hostel is actually IN a castle. Rooms are clean, staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is filling. Tired after a week of travel, we were content to spend the later hours of the evening wandering the property. Ortenberg is about a 10-euro cab ride from the nearest train station at Offenburg. A bus runs from the station to the town, but only until 6 p.m. or so. BEAUTIFUL, and a GREAT EXPERIENCE!

I have been to Germany four times. I have always used this hostel when staying in the area. It has always been a great experience.
