Hostelz.com's Review
Hostel Paradis is a well-priced hostel that feels a bit more like a hotel with dorms. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the location is unbeatable. It's lacking a lot of hostel features, like a common area or kitchen, but their sister hostel down the street has these things.

The Location

This hostel has a great location, minutes from Old Nice, the Promenade, and the beach. The area is surrounded by stores and restaurants, both inexpensive and expensive, and the area feels very safe at pretty much any time.

The directions provided by the hostel are pretty good, with a few modifications. To get here from the train station, cross the street and turn left. Make a right on Rue Paganini. Rue Paganini ends at Ave. Georges Clemenceau -- make a right and then a quick left. This should put you on Rue Alphonse Karr. Continuing down this street, you will eventually hit Plaza Magenta. The street through the plaza directly in front of you is Rue Paradis -- the hostel is near the end of this street on the lefthand side, labeled "Hotel Paradis."

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms range from privates to dorms. There are no in-room lockers, but the rooms lock securely. The beds are comfortable, although the square-shaped pillow is odd, and the blankets do very little to keep you warm. Luckily, each room is able to control its own temperature, which balances out the inefficient blankets. Keep in mind, the elevator only works up to the third floor, so if you're on the fourth or fifth, you'll have to take the stairs partway.

Many of the rooms have their own bathrooms and showers, since the hostel seems to be an old converted hotel. Towels are provided, as are little hotel soaps and shower gels, which is a nice touch. The shower has good water pressure, but the heat is pretty inconsistent -- one minute it's burning hot, the next it's lukewarm. There are plenty of places in the bathroom to put your things, and plenty of space to change, but there is no space in the shower itself for toiletries.

Common Spaces

There are no common spaces in this hostel. All of the more hostel-like amenities (kitchen, common room) are at the sister hostel down the street. The only common areas here are the bedrooms -- as a result, people in the bedrooms are very friendly and social. But, since there isn't much to do at the hostel itself, people spend the majority of the day out in the city, rather than socializing in the hostel.

Summary

This hostel has one of the best locations in all of Nice. It's inexpensive, has a good staff, comfortable rooms and, again a great location. If you don't really need a kitchen or a common room, this is a great choice.

3   Ok hostel Wifi didn't work. More like a hotel. No free breakfast or kitchen available. Good location though.  , Usa ()
3   Meh It was clean, but the beds were RIDICULOUSLY squeaky. Have fun trying to sleep ... It also got quite hot during the night and the air conditioner wasn't working. The curtains also are basically transparent, and the street is really bright outside. Overall, nice, especially the location, but VERY overpriced for the actual room you get.  , USA ()
3   Average Nice location, clean and more like a Hotel. No Kitchen. Good bathroom but hot showers are not always guaranteed. For a Hostel it is a average place.  , Brazil ()
4   Loved it, loved it Could not have found a better location, everything is walking distance. Very pleased with the cleanliness. I have recommended it to all my friends.  , Canadian ()
5  AMAZING. The only bad thing I can say about this hotel is that it didn't have a kitchen (which I didn't even notice until now) and the stairs are a bit of a pain when you are on the 5th floor. But really, the rooms are incredibly clean, there are showers in the rooms, the beds don't feel like they're falling apart, and whenever you want to leave this lovely little place, there's only a small park between you and the beach. The staff was excellent as well. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Nice.  ()
5  This place is more like a hotel then a hostel. It was very nice and clean. It has a great location (right by the beach in the heart of Nice) and it's very affordable. If you're on a budget and in Nice I would recommend you stay at Hotel Paradis.  ()
4  This place is in a great location, has a nice and friendly staff and a very good rate. The room is clean and comfortable. The only down side is that there is no kitchen. And there is no free Internet, as is claimed on this webpage.  ()
3  Top location, secure, very clean, no curfew and most of the staff are friendly. On the downside, there are no common rooms or kitchen facilities and the internet is only accessible from the one computer at reception which they are always using. Make sure you go to Waynes Bar while in Nice which is a short stagger away.  ()
