Great Hostel! I have stayed in a variety of hostels and I really really enjoyed staying at the Nauti Otter. Heather, the owner, is a great host and she really made me feel welcome to be staying with her. I loved the home feel of the hostel and the bed was comfortable too. I had a fun time in Seward and I would definitely stay at the Nauti Otter again if I do return. — Erin , USA (2011-10-23)

Charming and good value Heather was warm and granted us a good night's sleep. The bonus of breakfast and meeting a variety of interesting fellow travelers was great. Quiet and country setting was delightful. Charming room with privacy. thank you! — carol , u.s. (2011-09-21)

Warm welcome! Staying at the Nauti Otter is like being at home. The main house is very welcoming and Heather does an outstanding job in managing the place! She is lovely and even picked us up at the station, really appreciated as it was pouring rain. Seward is quite expensive and the Nauti Otter is really cheap. You should plan some money for the taxi though if you don't have a car, as it's not in the city. I really appreciated the small details, like the embroidered towels with the Otter in the bathroom. Thank you and keep up the good job!! — Elinor , French living in Spain (2011-09-08)

Great Experience My wife and I spent a few nights at the Nauti Otter during our vacation to Alaska. It's worth mentioning again that Heather was a GREAT hostess. She is very warm and welcoming, it makes it feel like you are staying with family. We stayed in one of the cabins, which was a really cool experience. They aren't luxury, but I would have been disappointing if they were. It was very clean and had a comfortable bed, which is all that I ask for. It was a lot of fun sitting out on our porch or by the bonfire till 1 am waiting for it to get dark. Heather worked very hard to make sure that everyone enjoyed there stay, not just at the Nauti Otter, but in Seward. She knows a lot about the area and is happy to help you with planning your day. Make sure to ask her before you book anything, because she can get you discounts, and give you advice on what to do. If anybody is worried about the "flushable outhouse", don't be. It is a clean bathroom, with a normal toilet, that just happens to be in an old outhouse looking building. I never really felt like we were roughing it here. — andrew , USA (2011-08-24)

Very Comfortable, clean. Excellent atmosphere We are a spanish couple and we have been at Nauti Otter for 2 nights. The atmosphere at the Hostel was excellent. The guest were kind people from several countries, and very friendly. Heather (the owner) made us feel as in our own home. We could cook by ourselves using the whole food & goods she has in the kitchen. And the shared restroom was always quite clean. I recommend this place to everyone who would like to enjoy of a very pleasant, clean, comfortable accommodation. — Carmen Hormiga , Span (2011-08-23)

Great atmosphere! Heather is a great host. Every morning she provided us with coffee, muffins, waffles, cereal, and all kinds of stuff for breakfast. The beds are comfy and the house and bathroom are clean and inviting. Her price is awesome and we really liked the location, just outside of Seward with mountains all around. While we were there we talked to a lot of the other guests and really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Thanks for a great time Heather! — Taiwaneers.com , USA (2011-08-16)

Its all good Spent 3 days at the Otter in July. Had a great time at this casual and well run hostel. The woman who owns the hostel was away and the place was being managed by Luke who had everything under control. The place was clean and well organized, the included breakfast (eggs, waffles, and cereal) was great, and the fire pit out back was a great place to kick back with a beer. The atmosphere at the otter was relaxed with guests ranging from an 6 year old from China to an 87 year old from Georgia, USA. This is a home which has been converted into a hostel with dorms, private rooms and cabins out back. This is not a hotel so don't expect a hotel environment. This is not a sterile HI hostel. We paid $60 a night for a private room in the main house and were more then satisfied. We made friends we will always remember, especially Ralph, Richard, Luke, & Billy. Seward is a great stop on any tour of Alaska and I would really recommend you check out the kayak tours at Miller Landing. Ask to go with Thomas or Lynsey. You wont regret it. — Steve , Canada (2011-07-12)

You "otter" stay here! The Nauti Otter's owner, Heather, was in constant contact with us following our reservation -- calling and/or e-mailing us to keep us up-to-date on all the happenings @ the hostel and in Seward. She provided us a long list of things to see & do while in the area. She provided us with the "best beds" in the hostel since we were visiting a bit before the busy season ... very accommodating! She made us feel very much @ home! — Lorrie , USA (2011-07-01)

The best hostel during our stay in Alaska. This is a great place to stay! The owner, Heather, made us feel at home even before we got there, giving us a call to let us know that the house was always open for whenever we arrived. We even arrived back at our cabin to find a little note on the door from Heather letting us know that there was a Toga party in town, and she had left some sheets out for us in case we wanted to join. Sweetest woman ... made us feel at home. And the cabin was so cozy we decided to stay an extra night. I would definitely stay again! — Melissa , USA (2011-06-23)

Great Staff, clean, and comfortable I had a great stay at the Nauti Otter! The Owner heather, goes out of her way to make you feel at home! Clean and comfortable and fun! I would stay again! — Don R , USA (2011-06-10)

Exactly what i look for in a hostel I arrived a little before tourist season so there was still some construction going on but it gave me something to do. Awesome people there. Heather made it a mission to get me a kayak trip set up. Dogs allowed always makes a place a better. Super friendly people. I already miss it and its only been a few hours. — Donnie , US (2011-05-04)
