Amazing
This was by far the best place I stayed in Australia. The hosts were exceptional as was the hostel itself, which is actually more of a B&B than a hostel. Location is great -- just a few minutes' walk from Arcadia itself. Clean and friendly. The new owners just took over the place about a year ago.

Most friendly by far
I stayed at Centaur House way back in 1989 and it still ranks at the top of my list as most memorable. In fact, I was thinking about my trip to Australia last night and it was the first place I wanted to look up in an attempt to thank Ken and Liz for their hospitality. The guests were a great crew as were the staff and locals. Having been on the road for several months by the time I landed on Magnetic Island, it was refreshing to stay at a place you were made to feel at home. Betting on the frog races is something I won't forget. So relax, chill out, and clean up after yourselves if you find the kitchen a tad messy. Hope to make it back that way one day!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Mine hosts were very friendly and very knowledgeable about most subjects. I found the rooms clean and spacious. The kitchen could have been cleaner, but that's a minor complaint as everything else was comfortable. It has easy access to everything, plus the beach opposite, and the pleasure of feeding the wallabies and possums every night. Paradise — what else do you need? I stayed here for twelve nights from Sept/Oct. 2005. I recommend this oldest guesthouse to anyone; it has good rates and a perfect location for relaxing. I'm still e-mailing the owners and will see them again next year. Thanks for your hospitality, Ken and Liz.

No wayyyyyyyy! I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. Overall it was dirty, and it was impossible to use the toilets and kitchen (they're a threat to your health!!). Absolutely to avoid.

The place is truly friendly and nice, but be aware of the filthy kitchen and the enormous cockroaches in your bedroom.
