Missis Hudson is a good place to stay in St. Petersburg if you're looking for a well-located hostel. Don't be discouraged by the entrance in the dark courtyard -- it is a very secure place. Missis Hudson offers a number of amenities including a washer, a common kitchen, and free internet Wi-Fi access.
The Location
The hostel is located directly on the Nevsky Prospekt, really in the heart of the city centre. At the same time, it is three minutes' walking distance from the metro station (Mayakovskaya) and fifteen minutes' walking distance from Moskovsky Railway Station. As usual in Russia, the hostel is located inside of a courtyard -- it has a street number that locates the courtyard and an apartment number for the palace.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms are clean, with a lot of space. Dorm are two-bed, three-bed, or four-bed room, according to guest number. Guests have large individual lockers directly in the room, which are allocated based on bed number, so only the occupant has the key for his locker. They provide ample storage for suitcases and clothes. There are three separate bathrooms in the hostel, each with a shower and a toilet. There is an additional toilet room.
Common Spaces
There is a fully-equipped, clean kitchen available, but very few common spaces -- only a table and some chairs in the kitchen area, and a very small table in the corridor near the bathroom.
At check-in, the receptionist gives guests a username and password for free Wi-Fi internet, which you must access using a personal laptop, tablet, or phone. The hostel is not so big, so it is not easy to meet people in the dorms and common areas.
Summary
Missis Hudson is one of the best hostels you'll find in St. Petersburg if you are looking for a cheap and well-located place to stay with all the necessary facilities. The hostel is safe and clean. The only negative aspect of this hostel is the low level of social activities.

Beautiful and friendly A friend and I stayed here during Easter holiday, and it was great! The girls who work at the hostel were extremely nice and helpful, the place looked brand new, and it was very very clean. The location is also very good. Oh, and they have the coolest shower ever!
