Big Millys Backyard is a magical hideaway in a small Ghanaian fishing village 25km west of the capital, Accra.
You'll find a cluster of small thatched huts in a beautiful garden which opens on to a long sandy beach. Here the fishermen sing as they haul up their canoes or sit mending their nets.
The clean, simple rooms are decorated with colourful African art. Some have air conditioning. Most have pretty bathrooms.
The popular restaurant overlooking the beach serves lobster, squid, shrimps and baracuda daily, together with a good selection of continental and vegetarian meals.
In true Ghanaian style the staff are incredibly friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Help and advice are always at hand.
The garden is relaxed and peaceful but comes alive on Fridays and Saturdays when there are live music performances. Dancing beneath the coconut trees on a warm starry night is an experience not to be missed!

• Take a taxi from Accra to Kokrobite and ask in the village for Big Millys or Wendys place.
• OR take a tro-tro from Dansoman Station in Kaneshie and alight at Kokrobite, last stop.
• We can arrange a local taxi to collect you from the airport ... see www.bigmilly.com
• If driving from Accra turn left at the Aplaku junction also known as the Old Barrier then continue on along the coast for 10km to Kokrobite. Then ask for Big Millys or Wendys place.
