Casa Amarela is located in the heart of Portugal's Costa Azul in the beautiful village of Vila Nova de Milfontes. The guesthouse is run by an affable fellow, Rui, who will make sure that you have a great stay. The Casa Amarela is a very welcoming place that is clean, comfortable, and possesses a great collection of international art that is spread liberally on the walls of all the rooms.
The Location
The Casa Amarela is located in the center of Vila Nova de Milfontes, which is less than two hundred kilometers south of Lisbon on the coast of Portugal. The hostel is only a short walk from the bus stop, which can be traveled in under a couple of minutes. As is fitting of its name, the Casa Amarela is painted bright yellow, so it is very easy to find. Just ask anyone where it is, and they will happily point you in the right direction.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The Casa Amarela Guesthouse now encompasses two entire houses that are located close together in the same neighborhood. Both of which are equally comfortable and have around five or six rooms each. There is one dormitory room in each house, which has bunk beds and in-room lockers. Most rooms in the guesthouse have private bathroom facilities, while the others rely on shared bathrooms which are distributed comfortably throughout the guesthouse. The bunk beds in the dorm rooms are solid and constructed of wood, and make for a comfortable sleep. Each person who stays in the dormitory is given a key to its outer door.
Common Spaces
The common areas of the Casa Amarela are distributed gregariously around the guesthouse, with a large living room-like area on the first floor, a kitchen and dining room area on the second floor, and outdoor patios that have tables and chairs. This hostel is a great place to meet other travelers for talk of the open road while sitting back and relaxing in the warm Portuguese sunshine. The main common area has a satellite television that brings in stations from all over the world, a generous collection of movies that guests can watch, as well as two computers with free internet.
Summary
In all, the Casa Amarela is a great place to have a very relaxing couple of days, weeks, or even months. This is a comfortable place to stay and is incredibly difficult to leave. We entered the Casa Amarela with the intention staying for one or two nights and ended up stay for over a month. The kind guesthouse staff, the great weather, and the beautiful beaches made our stay in Vila Nova de Milfontes very memorable. Be careful, this place is almost too good.

Not to recommend I was very disappointed, the kitchen facilities are very dirty, Rui is running nervously from one house to the other, the living room is absolutely out of order. The price for a bed in teh dorm is ok, but the rate for single rooms -- 50€ per night without breakfast -- are really too high!
