The Hostelz.com Review
A hostel beautifully situated at the edge of the small town Baden-Baden. The pleasant team running the place speak various languages, French being noticably understood. There is a nice area for a campfire or grilling as well as a well adorned social area located outdoors behind the dining room. While no kitchen facilities are offered, breakfast and dinner are served, dinner is a premium. Maintaining a clean environment appears to be important. The bathrooms and rooms are well kept. The hostel serves as a great platform for excursions into the Black Forest.

Hostelz.com Guest Reviews
5  I was here in May of 2006 for two nights. This was a very pleasant place to stay in a very relaxing town. The upstairs rooms are indeed quite interesting because of their shape and low slanting ceilings, and the upstairs shower was particularly weird (but not in a negative way). I found this particular hostel to be unusually quiet and was lucky enough to get a room to myself the first night. Like all DJH hostels in Germany, it's mostly school kids staying here and so you likely won't have anyone to socialize with if you are alone. The location does mean a bit of a steep uphill hike when you first arrive that will have you sweating, but after you have dropped your bag it's not so bad. It's about a half an hour walk to the heart of the old town, and about one and a half hours through the forest to the 'altes schloss.' The facilities are quite clean, and the breakfast is decent as well. Security is very good with keys to rooms and lockers you can lock. My lone complaint about this place, aside from the location, was that I was not allowed to check in until 5 p.m., which was rather inconvinient considering I arrived at noon. Based on the sign at the check-in counter, which looked like it was used often, I am guessing this is not an unusual circumstance. So you might want to take that into consideration when planning your arrival. This wasn't too much of a hassle as I just went out back and locked my bag to a tree in their large backyard (it survived). If you go to Baden-Baden (and you should), definitely plan on spending four hours at the thermal bath there. It was the most relaxing evening of my month-long trip.  ()
5  I stayed here two nights. The first thing you notice before getting to the hostel is the long hike up stairs. It's a bit much especially if you're a bit tired from a long travel. The hostel is very interesting to say the least. The upper rooms have an attic like feel because of their slanting ceilings and windows that let in a lot of sun. The geometric feel of the whole place is fun and retro. Big windows let in a lot of light and give the whole place a relaxing atmosphere. The staff were very pleasant and helped us find a few interesting places to go.  ()
