Palencia, Castile and León, Spain, is a city in Castile y León, an autonomous community in the northwest of Spain. Around seventy-nine thousand people live in the municipality. If you travel from abroad and you need a flight to the region, there are a couple of airports nearby that you can check out. Sometimes, the smaller airports in León and Burgos have suitable flight connections, but the number of destinations is very limited. It is more likely that you can find a suitable flight link at Satander Airport or Valladolid Airport. Santander is around two hundred kilometres north and Valladolid Airport around fifty kilometres south of Palencia. In both cases, frequent bus and train connections are available to get to Palencia. The centre of the city is compact and it is easy to get around. All the main sights in the centre are in walking distances. One of the most beautiful sights is La Catedral de Palencia, which originally was consecrated in the thirteenth century. The interior features are extraordinarily beautiful and definitely worthwhile a visit.

The main shopping street Calle Mayor is perfect for a stroll. The street offers a bustling atmosphere and a great variety of shops as well as bars. Cristo del Otero is an interesting, more-than-twenty-one-metre-high statue on the outskirts of the city. The statue of Jesus Christ was built in the early twentieth century and it was influenced by the Art Déco movement.

The centre of Palencia offers a couple of guesthouses and hotels. You can book simple guesthouses as well as fancy hotels with four stars.
