Sant’Agata di Militello, located in the province of Messina, Sicily, is a medieval town that was founded many centuries ago. It contains a nature park, hostels, ruins, and many other attractions that make it an ideal tourist destination today.

This city was founded in the year 1371 by Vinciguerra d’Aragona. Constructed in close proximity to the Torre della Marina, near the states of Palermo and Messina, this town was initially a small village. In the late 1500s, a family known as the Gallego family bought the entire village and began to expand it.

Today, you can visit a number of ruins in the area while staying at a hostel or homestay in Sant’Agata di Militello. One of the most popular is the Gallego Castle, named after the family. It was built in the 1600s and has two old towers, as well as a small private church.

Other churches in the city include one called the Church of Madonna del Carmelo. This church was built in the 1500s. The Church of Carmelo is yet another beautiful ancient church to be visited. It was constructed in the 1200s and features intriguing Neoclassical architecture.
