The town of Oristano, Sardinia, Italy, with its population of around thirty thousand people, is situated in the west of Sardinia, an Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea. The island is famous for its beautiful beaches, which attract Italian tourists, foreigners, and international celebrities. Generally, Sardinia is famous for its white, sandy, clean beaches with crystal-clear water and sun all year round. Compared to other parts of Sardinia, the Oristano region is less crowded during the summer. Additionally, the area offers some completely natural and untouched coastline, which is less touristic but definitely not less beautiful compared the other beaches of the island. The mild and sunny climate guarantees lovely days on the beach from the beginning of May to the end of October. During that period, the average daily temperature will reach more than twenty degrees Celsius. Especially in midsummer, daily temperatures of thirty to up to thirty-five degrees Celsius are normal, so keep that in mind when you plan a trip.

The most famous sights around Oristano are the beaches. The sheer amount of different beaches makes it hard to choose. Bus shuttles connect some of the beaches with Oristano. However, it is recommendable to take a car to reach some of the lonely and beautifully natural beaches that cannot be reached by bus. Among the most picturesque beaches are San Giovanni di Sinis, Is Arutas, and Mari Ermi. In the town center of Oristano, you can find some really old beautiful architecture from previous centuries, including the sandstone Tower of St. Christophoros, also known as the tower of Marianus II, which was originally built at the end of the thirteenth century; and one of the most remarkable parts of the Old Town wall. The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption (in Italian, Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta), was first mentioned in the twelfth century. In the course of the centuries it was rebuilt in the fourteenth century and there are also structures that are classic for the eighteenth-century Piedmontese style. Traveling around in the region, do not forget to check out the small, very colourful town of Bosa. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful towns on the island.

If you want to go out for drinks and food, Oristano offers plenty of options in the town centre. However, most premises are restaurants, offering traditional local and Italian cuisine. Moreover, you can find some small local pubs offering tasty regional wine and beer. Since the town centre is quite small, all places are in walking distance. Traveling as a budget tourist, you can find some Oristano, Sardinia, Italy hostels with reasonable prices in the region and the town of Oristano. Nevertheless, many inexpensive accommodations are not classic hostels as you know them in bigger cities; guesthouses and cheap hotels are also very popular. Since July and August are classic holiday months, it is very recommendable to book your Oristano, Sardinia, Italy hostel way in advance if you are on a tight budget.
