Very silent. But we had to change the room the second night!
Great time staying here
I stayed here for a few nights and had a great time. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, mugs, plates. There were plenty of stove tops to keep congestion in the kitchen to a minimum. There's no drinking allowed on the grounds, but plenty of people were drinking. Just be discreet about it (pour into a cup and don't be obnoxious) and no one seems to mind. The lounge area closes at midnight which can be a bit problematic if you're a night owl. Beds and rooms were standard for a typical hostel. Nothing out of the ordinary there. Easy access to shopping and groceries. I'd recommend staying here to anyone visiting Galway.
Ok as a last resort, but there are much better in Galway
The hostel is acceptable in all areas, but nothing special. The location is a bit dodgy and in the transition area from the square toward the more industrial area. There are no lockers or luggage storage in the crowded rooms. The bathrooms are very small and have quarter-sized sinks that were barely large enough to rinse a razor after shaving. The breakfast was complete crap and consisted of white bread with butter or jam with instant coffee and cheap orange juice. The hostel doesn't allow alcohol anywhere in the hostel, so you won't find a lively social crowd in the common areas. If a hostel on Eyre Square is available, I would highly recommend picking a newer hostel in a better location, with a more social atmosphere that provides under-bed luggage cages.
I stayed only over 1 night. All excellent, except the noise from outside.
It was our first stay at the slepzone, and we are more than satisfied. The hostel is more like a simple hotel, than a hostel. The staff was very sympathetic, everything was clean, and the location perfect.
This hostel was great! The location is convenient and quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was in the nine-bed female dorm and it was big and clean and even had an en-suite bathroom, and a balcony. There was free internet which was hard to get on, but it was worth the wait to get it free! It's a great place to stay and great value for your money.
Nice hostel, close to the bus station, quiet, helpful staff, nice kitchen, good price for value!
Our staying at this hostel was very good. It is always good to stay in Galway and this time it was greater because of the hostel. The hostel is very well located (short walk to the pubs but in a very quiet place not far from supermarkets). The most positive thing the friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. Something not in the average -- the space in the rooms (quite small rooms). Something negative -- not enough of a kitchen when you have to share it with large groups (like forty people). Something not acceptable -- breakfast is enough short to run out of juice at 8 o'clock in the morning. Anyway, our feeling to this hostel is very positive.
