Primaluna Beach Hostel is five minutes from the beach and has everything you need for a comfortable stay!

The Location

When arriving on the bus from Santa Marta or Riohacha, the bus will drop you on the main highway. Find Carrera Six and follow it down toward the beach and you will find the hostel on the right, about a ten- to fifteen-minute walk down the road. There are loads of restaurants around, and the hostel itself is a restaurant, but if you're looking for a supermarket and basic amenities, those are found back toward the main highway. The beach is literally a couple of minutes' walking down the road -- it's pretty much on your doorstep!

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms here are basic, comfortable, and clean. Each bed in the wooden-hut-style dorm room is equipped with a mosquito net to protect you from the bugs in the night time. The room has two fans to help keep things cool during the night.

The bathroom attached off the room is clean and functional. The water is cold -- which isn't a problem given how hot it is here -- and the water pressure is good. They also keep little soaps in the room for washing hands or in case you forget yours.

Common Spaces

There are loads of common spaces; the most popular is the pool and its surrounding area. The pool is large, and it's the area around it is clean and a nice, with several deck chairs for lounging about for the day. If you're trying to get yourself out of the sun, however, there are hammocks strung up from one end of the property to the other -- just find a free one and jump on in.

The front area is a restaurant. They serve free breakfast here in the mornings and you can order food here all day long (including drinks) at the bar. The are has a pool table that you can use as well, and often local buskers will appear at night and play music for you for a tip.

If you're not willing to pay some of the more expensive prices for food in Colombia at restaurants for every meal, this hostel also has a kitchen -- which is rare in these parts. The kitchen has a microwave and stove cooker and all of your cooking utensil basics as well as a fridge.

Summary

You really can't go past this place as far as your Palomino vacation is concerned. It is comfortable, the staff are friendly, and it has more amenities than most in these parts. They can also help you organise tubing trips and other tours at the front desk for the complete easygoing experience. You can't beat it!

Location

• You can reach Palomino leaving from Santa Marta or from Riohacha.
• If you arrive in the airport of Santa Marta, you can catch a taxi or a bus to Santa Marta market. It takes about 20/30 minutes, depending on the traffic.
• In the market there are small buses (called “buseta”) leaving every 20 minutes from 6 am to 6 pm to Palomino.
• The trip takes about 2 hours and costs 9.000 cop (3 euro).
• If you are in Riohacha and want to reach Palomino you should take a bus leaving from the terminal of transporte with direction Santa Marta, Barranquilla or Cartagena and stop in Palomino.
• It costs 9.000 cop (3 euro) and takes an hour and half.
• When you arrive in Palomino you can take a mototaxi asking for Primaluna Beach Hostel or looking for Carrera 6 (the main road to reach the sea from Palomino village) and walk straight ahead for 15 minutes.Primaluna Beach Hostel is on the right side of the street, 150 m before the beach.
