Get to know Montilla (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Montilla.

Montilla, Andalusia, Spain, is a small town in the Andalusian region, approximately a half-hour's drive from Cordoba south toward Malaga. It is surrounded by some of the most beautiful farmlands and flatter plains and is a stunning area to drive through. Other than the great driving scenery, there is not a great deal to do here, and it isn't a typical place that people would stop on their journey throughout Spain unless you are a wine lover. The biggest drawcard for Montilla is the wineries around the region and their associated restaurants, so while you are here, drink and eat up a storm.

The Alsa bus does stop through here on its journeys between Malaga and Cordoba, so you can come here on public transport. If you manage to find yourself stuck for a hostel in Montilla, Andalusia, Spain or Cordoba during the busy season, you may find one in here in Montilla. It may also be a cheaper stop-off if you are driving around the region with a car and you are on a budget. The majority of the hostels in the more expensive touristy towns will be a lot higher in price, especially if you don't book your hostel in advance.

Most of the town centre is within walkable distance of everything and the hostel is also walkable from the bus station. There is a Lidl supermarket here with super cheap groceries, if you need to stock up on some food. There is also a couple of restaurants downtown and a church up on the hill to visit and a few plazas. Otherwise, you won't really need to spend too much time here. It is more of a small local town in which you may stay while you are passing through to the bigger attractions of Spain.
