Kom Hostal Pichilemu is a pretty perfect hostel in an amazingly relaxed small town south of Santiago. The Kom hostel staff are friendly and happy to help with anything (from recommendations to doing laundry). Pichilemu is known as one of the best places in the world for surfing, and accordingly the town has a brilliant atmosphere. Be careful, you might never want to leave!
The Location
Kom Hostal is perfectly located in Pichilemu, a five-minute walk to the nearest supermarket and fifteen-minute walk to the beach. It is in downtown Pichilemu with lots of shops and restaurants close by, but still in a quiet neighbourhood. It is easy to find, as it is right opposite the bank. If you get to Pichilemu by bus, tell the bus driver that you are staying at Kom and they will drop you off just a couple minutes' walk away.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are large and spacious, with six beds at most (both bunks and single beds). There are no windows to the outside, but there are high ceilings with large skylights. There are large lockers (bring a padlock) in the rooms and the beds are comfy and of the non-squeaking kind. There are some night lights and night stands but not for every bed. Same goes for electrical sockets, but if you bring a distribution socket you are fine.
You get a room key as well as a key for the front door, but while we were there, nobody ever bothered to lock the rooms and it feels very safe.
There are two bathrooms with toilets, which sometime can result in a wait. We would not recommend the option of a dorm room with en suite shower/toilet, as these have horrible acoustics and the noise is sure to wake the soundest sleeper. Bathrooms/toilets are large and clean, but there is no place to put your stuff while showering and the shower is a bit adventurous with it either being too hot or too cold, but never just right.
Common Spaces
There's lots of space in which to hang out -- a kitchen, a large hallway with lots of comfy couches and tables, three garden/patio spaces with tables and benches, and a reception area with couches. There is a book exchange with lots of books, the Wi-Fi works well but not everywhere (not in the gardens/patios), and there are three dogs roaming around. They are all friendly and former street dogs and you can take them to the beach for walking and playing.
Summary
Kom Hostal is a very social place with lots of volunteers around, and lots of people stay longer than intended because of the amazing atmosphere in Pichilemu as well as in the hostel.

ON BUS! When you are arriving to Pichilemu you have to tell the guy of the crew of the bus that you will get down in El paradero del centro. En la calle de la municipalidad. There you are 2 blocks away from the Hostal.
