This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Kilkee.

If you like the ocean at all, Kilkee, on the coast of Ireland in County Clare, is the perfect place to go. There is so much to do and explore if you use the town as a base. It gets busy during the summer months, especially at the beaches, which are quite popular with tourists and locals alike. It is a vacation hotspot, and in typical boardwalk fashion, has arcades and amusement venues. The charming atmosphere, however, makes for a good visit.

The Polluck Holes -- natural pools of water for swimming -- are really cool and quite popular with bathers. If you want to go swimming, however, make sure to check the tide charts, because the pools are only there when the tide is low. There are lots of great diving sites, and diving is quite popular. Check with the local dive shops for the best places to go for a dive. Surfing is popular with the younger crowd, but the waves usually don't get too exciting. For the walkers and hikers, take a stroll along the breathtaking coastline. On a clear day, you will get an amazing view of the Aran Islands.

It's easy to reach your Kilkee hostel by bus; buses run frequently from Limerick and Ennis. Within the town itself, there isn't much to do that is more exciting than what the natural geography around Kilkee can offer, but there are some nice markets and good places to eat. At night you have a selection of traditional Irish music sessions or more modern nightclubs. The nightlife is very lively, and actually goes later than most other places in Ireland.
