The largest town in the region of the Gros Morne National Park, Rocky Harbour is situated right on the water. The main street is filled with restaurants, convenience stores, and other souvenir stores that give the place its own character. The hostels in Rocky Harbour are situated within walking distance to the main street, so you will have all of the food and amenities at your fingertips.

Also in and around the town center is a wildlife museum, which gives information about Canadian animals and animals native to the local region. There are multiple arts and crafts shops, which contain art work from the local people, that are great to check out also. For those feeling a little more active, there are a few walking trails close to the town, such as the Rocky Hill trail, that you can explore. The Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse is also worth a visit and is situated a small way out of the town center.

Of the most spectacular things to visit within this area, however, is the world-famous Gros Morne National Park. Rocky Harbour is situated right in the middle of the park, just off the highway, so it is a great place to set up a base from which to explore. They have multiple visitor centers throughout the park and they will give you information about what is best to do within the area. There is an abundance of amazing hiking and spectacular scenery to be had here and to properly explore will take at least a couple of days.
